is 401 an area code? Have you considered re branding?
Yea its an area code (the only area code in RI). I have no idea what i could rename the company that isn't already taken by somebody somewhere.

I appreciate the helpful posts some members have made. I'm trying out different vector backgrounds right now.

Try to do the entire layout vector only. We never use bitmaps for anything. These bitmaps are coming at the expense of your branding. Some of the most effective wraps we've done have only solid colors. I'm not sure of your particular market, but most of our requests for fleet branding are from people who want the exact opposite of what you have, and want simple, clean and effective brand integration into their wrap design.

Keep in mind, getting noticed, and being an effective marketing piece are two different things. There's a fleet of purple minivans in my area. I see them all the time. They totally stand out. What do they do, and who are they? I have no idea - can't read any of the lettering.

Just my two cents.

ohhhh.. boy-oh-boy-oh-boy...... this wrap will drive clients AWAY from your business. i'd at least hire a professional designer for something that is so crucial to your company image.

Here's a link to an article by Mike Stevens to give you an idea of what Old Paint is trying to help you with. http://www.signcraft.com/libraries/...uts-Begin-with-an-Understanding-of-Format.pdf

Looks like a copy of the book can be had currently on Amazon for about $27 USD.

Is it your intention to identify your company with the modern hip hop, white trash, gangs and criminals by the usage of 401graphics? Thank goodness you didn't go with 187graphics... the police code for murder or death, or 420graphics the code for marijuana. Or has the use of these terms by these groups turned a corner in our culture and become used by all groups? If it is, then can you create your design to appeal in this way? What graphics are they putting on the covers of the albums. Was thinking maybe some examples of graphics used by MMA for posters and event promotion appeal to this crowd. Guess it all boils down to who is your most profitable customer and what will get them to call and order...NOW!! Then design to that group and if you cannot design this style then by all means get outside help for your own marketing pieces. Outsourcing is ok nothing to be ashamed about, actually smart to know your limits.

I would say definitely outsource the design and then wrap it in house. No shame in outsourcing, especially if you're not known as a design house per say. If you're looking for companies to outsource this to, there are many great ones right here on the forum, PM me for suggestions.

By the time you get all the "critique" on here read, you could have printed it out and installed it by now. See if it works and get the reaction from the public. And in the meantime start laying out another one. It is not like getting married, these wraps can easily be replaced without much cost or loss of property.
The only companies I buy from who have wraps are Budweiser, Fedex and UPS. If a plumber or electrician have a wrap on their van I know two things right away. They are going to be expensive because of being franchised and their workers are not that great because if they were they would not be working for a box company.
I remember Colorado going thru "advice" on here for his billboard layout and he went ahead with it the way he like it and it made him some money.

To be honest, I have never liked your logo. The font choice is thin and weak (I call it 70s porno) and the effects are corny.
If you are going with an area code for a name, I would start with maybe a cute pinup style vintage telephone switchboard operator as a super graphic and a much bolder, cleaner typeface.
Your colors are clashy and nasty. I think the whole "splash" thing has been done to death, I would lose it all. Start with good bold clean typography and a nice icon...in black and white.
Lose the web address except for on the back of the van. Lose the "AND MORE" it just seems like you are too willing to bend over backwards to do anything for anyone.
Your laundry list is too big, too much space between the services.
Simplify. Class it up. Add correct shadows.
Once you have everything where you like it then add some colors that coordinate, not compete for attention.
I would definitely keep the FB and twitter stuff, I think it makes you seem more modern and accessible.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Do you want to be known as "that tacky wrap guy" or the guy with the cool van?
Love....Jill

Jill do you have an example of the type of font you're talking about?
Also don't worry about the background image anymore. After testing out different backgrounds i soon realized that this paint splatter thing looks bad.

Whats wrong with 70's porn? They have the best soundtracks! lol

Thanks to everybody who is giving me great input!

I agree with John, You are not marrying this thing. Have fun with it. The new designs I'm seeing coming out of your shop are top notch. Pretend it's for a client if you want it to be more serious. I like the American theme on your banner.

Name Problem

I tend not to like the background, colours etc like most posts, but if that's the way you're going, my suggestion is to totally redo the "401 Graphics" it looks way too much like an afterthought in the design process" I think that is maybe what addie had felt as well.

So I seem to have hit a brick wall :banghead: and cant think of what i want now. Anybody on here that designs wraps/rebrands and doesn't cost $10,000?
Your own design is always the hardest to do.:frustrated:
