I can see from the letter she wrote, he has it his way or the highway, If you think for one minute you can stand over someone with a gun and have them respect you, you are misinformed, Sure they will fear you, but not respect you! It's NOT the same thing! You should NEVER teach your kids to solve a problem (other than a violent attack or need to gather food) with a gun!
When your kids DO something wrong, (steal, cheat, lie, or destroy property) they need to suffer the consequences. But this letter was directed straight to her parents, who do not have any intention to listen to her at all! When you are dealing with teens, it is never a dictatorship, it is always a negotiation.
if you have an 8 year old it is a dictatorship, "they gotta do what you say because you control everything" but when you deal with teens your control stops the second they step out of your sight. Your job is to teach them to behave when you are not looking.
This guy shot her laptop because she expressed her opinion about HIM. so what does he think she thinks of him now? Kids need to know you have their back, not be someone who inflicts violent acts toward them. Somebody needs to be the adult in the household.
What did she learn? Don't express our opinion to a man, so when she gets married or dates, she is just supposed to suck it up and do what the man says and be happy about it???
