I am presently using IE8 at the shop and at home. Maybe i used Netscape back in the late 90's but since then have always used IE. No complaints here.

wait till you try a mozilla based product.
Firefox or Chrome. Then you will see why these types are taking over.

In all honesty, I never had an issue with IE. I had tried an early Firefox and hated it. I'm on Firefox 7 and I do like it the best. I am not a google chrome fan at all, some of it borders on illogical mindset, but I just don't like it at all.

I used Netscape back in the 90s as well. I really did like that program, but I was also naive about things back then, so it could have been the spawn of satan for all I know.

Thats because it is the spawn of satan. Luckily the destroyer of worlds ... the nine tailed werefox killed it.

Firefox Sync is my favorite feature besides firebug and FireFtp
Auto syncs all history, bookmarks between every device including my iphone.

Dabbled in chrome.. Still favor Firefox- if Microsoft or apple were smart.. One of them would fork out some cash to aquire it..

Too me that would go against what Mozilla is all about:

"The Firefox browser is created by Mozilla, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web."

Funny you should say that. Google has serious coin invested in the Mozilla project. There was speculation for a while, still is I suppose, that they'll end up just forking over a bit more and acquiring the entire project. I like Google and Mozilla, but I would hate to see that happen.

For all that is good and holy, don't even suggest that!

Apple has no interest -- they use WebKit for Safari (a fork of the open-source KHTML) which is what Google then based Chrome on.

Microsoft... well, I think Mozilla would refuse that deal even if Hell froze over. That would be the death of Mozilla, since Microsoft would be just as likely to buy Mozilla and then throw everything away to keep anyone from using it. Luckily, open source software doesn't work that way, and someone else would just pick up the last open version of the code and fork it.

I guess when i start having problems i will look for something else. Or ... When i start synchronizing devices or whatever else i'm not up to date with i might see IE's shortcomings. For me ... Browsing, streaming and downloading is all i do and IE works just fine.

Mozilla is based off of Netscape and Chrome is based off of Opera. Two entirely different systems.

Whoa there!

Mozilla isn't really based off Netscape any more than Chrome is based off of Opera. Mozilla was basically a Netscape project to bring their dated browser into the 21st century by completely rewriting it from scratch. Netscape then went belly-up, got rescued by AOL, and somehow the browser managed to get open-sourced and survived, evolving into what it is today.

Chrome, as I noted above, is based on the WebKit engine from Apple, which itself is based on the KHTML engine from the KDE project for Linux.

Opera uses their own rendering engine, which was developed in-house.

And finally, Internet Explorer is loosely based on technology from Microsoft's acquisition of Spyglass Technologies way back in the early days of the World Wide Web...
