US Tariffs, Sigh!

I don't care what eggs cost. In all reality, if I have 2 eggs every day and 2 pieces of toast for breakfast it's cheaper and healthier than poisonous cereal which nobody should eating.

Eggs at $6/18 = .33 egg
Bread $3.18/20 = .16 slice - cheaper and healthier if you make your own!!!

.98 per day for breakfast? Even if you have 6 people in your family...$5.88 for one meal?

The only thing cheaper is oatmeal at .13 per half cup serving of Great Value. Add some blueberries to the oatmeal and you're still under $1.
What time is breakfast?

We are first in cheese and second in milk and butter production. I'm pretty sure we are number one for the nation's cranberries, cherries and ginseng (weird). Land O'Lakes is a few blocks West of my shop and Sargento a few blocks East. Every countryside drive contains views of cows and corn and the smell of manure.

When I did payroll for Land O' Lakes I started with 367 farms. I quit 6-ish years later we were down to 160-ish from small farms selling all their head to the mega farms due to retirement and kids not wanting to take the farms over. The dairy industry has really evolved over the last 10-15 years. Very few small farms of under 100 head exist. Most are now 500+ with rotating or floating parlors. My ex in-laws still milk 70 head a day, they are 77 yrs old LOL
Wisconsin and the cheese heads! I'd love to see the small farms come back into production.

Not entirely sure that you can get your hands on anything labeled as Arkansas rice where you are, but here's a list of brands that utilize it. Funny enough, Anheuser-Busch is top of the list... so if you're enjoying a fine light beer, it's likely AR rice giving you the buzz.
As soon as I heard the USA grows rice, I assumed it was for their "beer"

Haven't read any of the thread but here is my take:

Country 1:

Taxes its citizens and controls where/what they can buy

Country 2 in response:

Taxes its citizens and tells them where and what they should buy

Farms should be family owned and operated, with the help of cooperative, state, provincial and federal resources. Foreign, bank, multi-national (Blackrock) ownership or rich people ownership, where they wouldn't know the end of a pitchfork if they were sitting on it (Gates), should be outlawed. It's 2025 and the idea of farms shuttering or big business holding food for ransom while there is famine across the planet is ridiculous.

Daft make work projects by the Canadian federal government training people to open a tattoo parlour or a franchise coffee shop make no sense when farms are going dormant or are understaffed.

Why the heck are we importing apple juice and garlic from China or South Africa when BC and Ontario made enough to satisfy the entire country and then some? NY, PA and probably most US states are in the same boat.

I 100% agree! We have/had more supply than demand. We often would buy the milk and then dump it. The biggest issue with the milk price was the mega farms and the cows these days are milked 3x vs 2x and the quantity of milk each cow produces has drastically increased over the last couple decades, thus creating a surplus and bringing the price down and making it impossible for small farms to stay in business. Although, my ex in-laws from day one in the 1970's began investing their money into stocks and bonds on their own. They have been able to survive the highs and lows because of their savvy investing. Some of the family farms we had were bought out by the kids. The kids immediately put in rotating parlours and created a "business" vs. a "way of life" and proved to be very successful. Of course, this was to the horror of their fathers LOL

Just got a phone call from Grimco to tell me that Epson has increased the price of their ink due to the tariffs the USA has placed on multiple countries where the ink is made, as a result my costs on epson ink have gone up 24% as of tomorrow, By the sounds of it, this will affect all of North America.

And the worst part about it is that it is US government stealing that 24% from us, more tax we're paying on top of already being taxed 10 different ways

Try. Ndgraphics... They're a Canadian company so maybe they buy direct, bypass the American tax. I'm sure Grimco gets their stuff from USA, 1 supply chain and all.

I don't think ND deals with Epson at all. We get ours (epson inks) from Spicers, which I'm (fairly) sure is (or was at some point) a Canadian company. I'd rather give Spicers, or literally anyone off the street money if it means not giving it to Grimco.

Nd can get Epson ink in. They don't stock it so ce they're not an official official dealer... But our local nd offered to bring it in and stock it for us because they wanted to steal the business away from grimco.

Ouch..... Didn't get too far trying to read the thread again.
:roflmao:

Looks like threads back on topic now!

Interesting to know what you guys think now - I don't know if Epson ink will be a full 25% increase .. but either way, the price is going up.... Which means everyone Who uses Epson's ink will be paying more, and then you'll pass the cost onto your customers....

Can you see now that tarrifs are a tax on the American people? Epson isn't paying a penny more, its you guys, and us who end up paying the cost.

That's BS at best. It's a flow-through and the tariffs should not apply as the product is not staying in the US. Tell Grimco to get back to you on this or find another supplier. They're being lazy and rinsing the Canadian customer.

Duties work that way sometimes, but tarrifsare quite a bit different.

Anything that is going through America, or produced in America has tarrifs on it. All 3m vinyl is increasing, all Avery vinyl...

Pretty much every single product not 100% made in USA is getting a tarrif in some way or the other.... Pricing is going to go up substantially on most items.. a lot of stuff is directly shipped to Canada, but a lot of stuff just imports raw materials and then it gets produced in america, or it has some portion of the manufacturing in America... And then Americans get hit with the tariffs as well as Canadians since most of the supply chain goes through you guys.

You know what, I've decided I no longer want to buy from the any Federal government anymore, whether Canadian, US or whomever. I'm not sure that what they've been selling us for the past 60+ years is really what we've been getting so I just want my money back.

Where do I leave a Google review? I'm not happy with the service and I think we're getting hosed!
