  1. Question Buying used/Testing my omega on other machines

You should be able to run all of the machines off of the one station/software. However, it may be easier to manage everything if you add another station/computer/software, if you have the space for it.
  2. Truly accurate vehicle outlines

If you're looking for "exact fit" templates for things like false windows/recesses, you are going to have to make them yourself, for each variation of each vehicle. No one provides these. Each one you'll have to measure/photo/draw/setup/test cut & adjust/retry if you're cutting it to fit...
  3. Question Buying used/Testing my omega on other machines

The only issues I can foresee is that his cords for his machines might not be compatible with your computer you're bringing. Bring your cords and USB adapter cables if you can and it should be pretty simple to install/connect otherwise. You can run simple tests through the Edge itself without...
  4. How to tell the difference in Vinyl's.

We gut little "T" shapes out of scrap plastics and use a dry erase marker to label every roll that arrives. We have to keep track of lot numbers on every order/print for MCS stuff so it helps making that easy to find. When the roll goes on the printer the T goes into the back of the RIP's...
  5. Kawaski Mule wrap - sticker overlay on wrap material?

The issue with these is that the vehicle body itself is made of low surface energy plastic, so getting any vinyl to stick well as a full wrap requires a lot of extra prep/work. It can be done, but it can also go badly.
  6. What would you use?

The "burning" issue is very common with people using (junk ) Oraguard 210 laminate. Do a search on this forum and you'll see it come up a lot.
  7. Anyone have a custom trick to track laminate length?

We use a roller wheel on our slitter, should be able to use one for a laminator the same way I'd think. Just add a bit more for the webbing.
  8. Is there a way to change the orientation of the nozzle checker?

If you're loading new material, you've already contaminated those areas by touching them so they would have printed with fingerprints anyways. If the printer has been sitting idle run a nozzle check if you have frequent drop-outs. Otherwise you could just roll without them if you think you can...
  9. Reverse Barcodes In Onyx?

It may be a setting somewhere in the RIP? I cannot recall as a tech came in and set up our Onyx/Graphtec configuration originally and I don't remember ever seeing it. Maybe call Onyx with your subscription and ask them about it? Every print here gets laminated and cut by barcode and we do not...
  10. Need some help with an FC9000 Graphtec

If the plotter is having troubles just reading the barcodes, and you are doing everything manually correct as far as loading the vinyl and positioning the head, then the fix is to adjust the scan mode for that condition so that it can read it easier. I know we use a different scan mode for...
  11. Need some help with an FC9000 Graphtec

We use Onyx with our three Graphtec FC9000 plotters here. As far as Onyx/Graptec knows, we're the first ones using multiple FC9000 plotters with Onyx... To get everything "happy" for the most part, required a fresh install of Windows 11+ on the RIP computer, newest Onyx version and a couple...
  12. Multi color vinyl production

Print/cut them on a Gerber Edge. Use the correct green (apple?) and print the white and black foil onto them. This will get them nice solid colors with a good bright green, in a single layer. Wide format printing is the best/cheapest/easiest way to do these, but some customers want a brighter...
  13. Sp-300i Bad Quality

You definitely have some minor head issues, but you can still print ok as-is. Every older Roland I've ever seen in-person prints very similar to this. You're never going to get the same quality out of this machine as the newer model printer heads produce. You might get a bit smoother print on...
  14. Software Suggestions

We use Onyx with our printers and our Graphtec FC9000 plotters. As long as the cut files are set up correctly so that Onyx interprets the Spot color "CutContour" the prints/cuts are perfect and the barcode server works great. You will have to have your RIP computer running the latest version of...
  15. Sp-300i Bad Quality

To be certain, try the exact same print on a couple other different medias. If that print is only 4cm across, that's not that bad of a print. It is a wide format printer made for large prints to be viewed from a distance, not a "photo quality" printer.
  16. 5x10 Mirrored Acrylic

It looks like you CAN custom order sheets of Plaskolite's product for larger sizes. https://plaskolite.com/products-services/product-brands/fabback ePlastics says they stock a 72"x96"...
  17. Choosing a RIP

I would recommend sticking with Onyx, getting some training and getting a couple GOOD profiles set up for each machine. FWIW, if you didn't know this already, color consistency out of the HP machines is always going to be a hassle.
  18. Pre press artificial intelligence

I can't see it being implemented into the RIP software like a few are discussing above, but on the "design" end of prepress it is coming soon. Just looking through and using Adobe Stock images, I am getting a lot of nice AI-generated images in my search results and using some of them on projects...
  19. ? printing direct on magnetics

Add another vote for printing to another product and laminating, then laminating it to the magnetic stock. The strain on the printer pulling the heavy material will wear the feed motors out if you're printing large rolls, and that is if it doesn't stick to your platen. Then you have the risk of...
  20. Question Wholesale Printer for Window Perf

Window perf is a mess currently. 3M isn't making any and doesn't have hardly any in stock, and if you can find any perf it is usually only 54" widths. The other options are mainly short term films. Be sure of whoever you find to print it for you, that the film they're using has a "somewhat...
