  1. streaks in print

probably have a head going out. try a rip with variable dot turned off. if the misting goes away this shows that the head has lost its ability to print the super small dots.
  2. JV3 Overspray / Head Issue

you can use profiles that are not "variable dot" on a dying head to get it to print for a while longer.
  3. UV flatbed printing on wood substrate

favorite clear of all time Sherwin Williams, pre-cat laquer, dull rubbed effect. as for waterbased? lots of pro options but if you want your product to be top notch it will take a lot more talent and a much nicer gun with waterbased.
  4. UV flatbed printing on wood substrate

rubo's right. veneer and also .020 petg easily fits through a standard solvent printer. solvent inks print beautifully onto clear acrylic lacquer finish. and solvent inks print much nicer with high head height print gap than uv inks. all these projects were done with an old Mimaki JV3.
  5. UV flatbed printing on wood substrate

@Nicky thanks for the heads up, the chassis and hull looked very much like the rest of the MT line. Perhaps all of the MT line is Xenon?
  6. JV3 Ink Starvation

before blaming the damper, cross the black damper on the black head to see if the issue switches to the other side. you could also have a clogged manifold.
  7. Flatbed Printer Advice

had a flatbed 16 heads. it had both white ink and varnish. the varnish of all things clogged worse than any ink. the techs said that it cured the most easily due to the lack of pigment so any latent light would kick it a bit, gumming up the head. maybe the mimaki is different in this case...
  8. UV flatbed printing on wood substrate

i have a super old H700. it's a Meitu rebranded later as an EFI. looking to get a new flatbed, a R180 style epson hybrid (still built by Meitu but licensed all over China) like this one | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD9T7U31UI8 also keep in mind that solvent ink prints to CAB lacquer...
  9. UV flatbed printing on wood substrate

with my flatbed, head height is touchy. usually 1.5mm is as high as i like to go to retain near perfect image. you can still print in the 2-4mm range (image gets a bit soft) passed that immediate insane garbage... like your printer is printing whispy fog trails. if you want to do several at...
  10. Flatbed Printer Advice

i'd keep in mind that if you are wanting to ramp up production, the fastest, most reliable, method of production, will never be a "sped up version" of how you are presently doing it. i'd get to also thinking completely out of the box. or instance, you could be printing on Dinoc which doesn't...
  11. Flatbed Printer Advice

one thing that it's hard for us businessmen to do is allow ourselves to be proven wrong. when ramping up a new business model, switching equipment/spaces/markets, etc. things take often twice as long to finally gear up. hell.. sometimes three times as long. then when it takes off you've got a...
  12. Flatbed Printer Advice

if it's small stuff. go small. i'd get a small form factor flatbed. why get a high maintenance beast to print on a tiny substrate? get a uv LED, dx5 based printer and get your feet wet. all of those printers are like buying a dragster to go get groceries. ... like this 24" x 41". this is...
  13. DX5 head source fo JV33 etc

isn't a response to the last question. but did notice one thing. many of the chinese solvent and uv ...and dye sub printers have moved the Ricoh GS2200. did some reading up on this head. seems to be more industrial, better resolution an cheaper per channel...
  14. Help! Need Mimaki JV4 advice.

i can't tell from the photo but it looks like the data swap isn't done properly. maybe it is. are you sure you know this procedure. it's dangerous to your printer if done wrong. the ribbons have to be moved in full pairs. the printer should not be able to recognize that the data (in full...
  15. Help! Need Mimaki JV4 advice.

not really how it works. the ink lines have light balanced positive pressure in them. if the negative pressure remained in the line, all the ink would drain to the tanks (which can happen if you pull with a syringe from the waste line but forget to break that vacuum by pulling the carriage to...
  16. Help! Need Mimaki JV4 advice.

    yes.
  17. Help! Need Mimaki JV4 advice.

place the LM and LC dampers over on your C and M channel and do the same test. if it starts working then you do have ink starvation or some kind of vacuum issue. if the same behavior appears, then you are on to electrical. after that you are on to data swapping in order to rule out the...
  18. Thoughts on a Vutek Uv Printer

i'd contact meitu. i was discussing this printer a while back with Echo Wang (echo@mtutech.com). there are several versions from a super base solvent only to ricoh gen5. i'd read up on the ricoh GS2200. seems to be the new head that will be replacing the dx5. the gs2200 requires subtanks...
  19. Versa-Tech - Lazer, router + knife cutting - Anyone have an opinion?

if it's utilizing the new laser diode vs mirror, the dust free requirements would only apply to the lens.
  20. Thoughts on a Vutek Uv Printer

for the 200/600, i'd compare with others on globalgarage.com (currently they have three or four... all in the parting out section. anytime the majority of a model is in the "parting out" section that means, they all broke and the repair was so exotic and costly that they weren't worth saving...
