  1. Iphone is now 2 years old!

Can you even get a "dumb" phone anymore, aside from the token flip phone with big buttons for seniors that each carrier sells for once in a blue moon someone's grandma wants one of those "new car phones"
  2. CM4 and Corel 2019

I can't help on this, but we run Corel 2018 and CM4, about twice a year I need to reinstall CM4 as windows 10 decided to update itself and CM4 stops working, Graphtec usually has a updated version on their website within a few days to get you up and running again. Can you run CM4 in any other...
  3. Management - Estimating, scheduling and price sheets?

Are you looking for a estimating program that will help you come up with a quote for various signs, or just a program to manage estimates? We used to use EstiMate but found the pricing to be too high for some items and waaaay to low for others, even though we set up the program as best we...
  4. Wrapping Planes & Jets Yes or No?

Not worth the headache and potential liability, run away.
  5. How to be an annoying customer....

How about long term clients who ask for a quote before they send every job? We have a few clients we do engraved industrial tags for, without fail they ask us to quote every job, some of them have placed 40 + orders with us in the last year, yet they still can't figure out that the cost of...
  6. Epson S60600 Ink Odor?

We have an S80600 and yes it does smell. Ours is in a room on it's own around 16'x20' with 9 ft ceilings and if you are printing a lot you can smell it inside the room. We recently put an exhaust fan in the room venting out the back wall and it has made a huge improvement.
  7. Best setup for high volume signs/decals

Buy the blanks precut with the holes and corners already done, than look into flatbed printing them using a jig, if they are all the same size it should be very easy to set up a jig for this.
  8. What is your favorite print vinyl and laminate combination?

Cheap short term signs - Arlon 510 w/ matching laminate Day to day stuff/ wall graphics - Arlon 4600lx w/ Arlon matching laminate Decals - either GF 6 mil vinyl or GF 201HTAC depending on the client's needs Wraps - 3M 180 with matching laminate, only because we don't do many and I can order...
  9. Vinyl with no markings on liner

Must be a regional thing, none of the general formulations vinyls I've ever bought have had branding on the liner. I chalk it up to GF producing so many house brands for other people that it just made sense not to put a brand on any of it.
  10. Opinion Epson Surecolor 40600 vs Roland TrueVis SG

The Roland cutter is complete Cr@p compared to the summa
  11. Need Help General Misery with Backlit

I seem to remember quite a few threads on here about issues with the latex machine printing inconsistent panel sizes due to the heat causing the vinyl to shrink/expand. My guess is that is the case here, when you printed a one off sample, the stretch was insignificant, but as you started...
  12. What would YOU do with the money?

Why did you reply to a 4 year old thread?
  13. Problems perf cutting on a GR-640

That seems strange to me, the cut file for a plotter is a few KB at most, plus I think most plotters would store the data onboard rather than pull the data over the network like a printer does. I'm glad it's working now though.
  14. The best brand of razor blade?

I've found the black blades loose their tip too easily, they are very brittle and the top snaps off almost effortlessly
  15. Mimaki UCJV-300 Reviews

Hey Pat, what is the smell like on these printers? I know when we get UV printed banners from 4over as soon as you open the box there is a very strong smell that takes over the shop, any issues with that?
  16. Question laminating issues with Alupanel and Max metal from Grimco in Toronto

I Havn't had that exact issue, but we have noticed the AluPanel brand sheets always have tons of surface imperfections in them, little dings and dents, and buts of crud stuck under the paint, but no issues with max metal
  17. What are your thoughts on the S80600?

People seem to get confused comparing HP's replacable printheads to solvent heads. yes the HP print heads are easy to change and cheap to buy, because they are a consumable item, meaning you will be replacing them on a regular basis. A standard solvent head does not need replacement under...
  18. Taking delivery of our new Summa F1612 next week, what else should I know?

I agree, we had a 3 phase surge protector put on our panel at the shop so everything is protected, electrician charged us $500 all in for it and it really adds piece of mind.
  19. Tips for keeping crud off prints when laminating?

are you using the take up on your printer than moving directly to the laminator? if so you shouldn't be getting dust in your prints, how clean is your shop? we have a room dedicated to printing/laminating which is kept cleaner than the rest of the shop (normally) and it has helped...
