  1. Opinion Biting the bullet and looking for a new eco-sol/solvent printer

Unfortunately that is not the case. The local dealer said it was too old and would not service it.
  2. Application tape Help!

found a place that has it by the yard - http://www.threadart.com/p-15114-transfer-film-for-self-adhesive-sign-vinyl-film-24-by-the-yard.aspx?gclid=CP2ijN6nn9ACFZaEaQodk9IBBg Not sure if that is what you are looking for but...
  3. Application tape Help!

Sorry, you're right eahicks, I missed the liner issue. Yeah, I have never seen that either. D-Nice - The process seems odd. Why can't you weed it before you send it? It should be ok to send weeded and pre-taped.
  4. Roland VP 540 replacing mainboard - no power - help needed SOS

I had that issue with my old SC-540, and the battery was an issue. I put it in upside down when I re-installed it (durrrr, I know). But it would do nothing until I had the battery in correctly. Just a thought.
  5. Application tape Help!

R-Tape has clear transfer tape, not certain if they have grid on the backing or not. You should be able to get transfer tape rolls from almost any supplier (Fellers, Sign Warehouse, etc). I have never had any trouble finding clear transfer tape. I personally like the TransferRite tape, low to...
  6. Opinion Biting the bullet and looking for a new eco-sol/solvent printer

Size is, unfortunately, an issue. I could get the 54" to fit, but it would be pretty tight as far as working around it. I might just go for it anyway. So, from what I am seeing so far, Roland is still the printer of choice? Or would anyone suggest another brand?
  7. Opinion Biting the bullet and looking for a new eco-sol/solvent printer

I have been without a printer for a bit now. My old one was a beast - the Roland SC-540. I loved the printer, but it became outdated and I could not find anyone to service it (did most of it myself due to lack of support, learned a lot but it got real old, real fast). I am looking for...
  8. Looking for a new (used) cutter/plotter

My poor old MK-75 Graphtec is quickly dying and there is no support for it because it is too old. Time to get another one. I don't mind used if it is in good condition. I am looking for a good used cutter (no us cutter type cheap cutters). Needs to be at least 30" but would prefer 42". I am...

Thank you! I think you got it.
  10. Font ID help please

I have tried the standard font finders, and looked through all the fonts I normally use but I am having no luck. Does anyone know this font? Thanks in advance
  11. font ID help please

    Thank you!
  12. What is an old CJ-540 converted to SC-540 worth these days?

I'm thinking of throwing in the towel and selling my CJ-540 but prices are all over the map. What does the group here think this old beast is worth? Print quality is decent, a small amount of drop out in black, still prints a cuts fine. The safety on the front window is was disabled before I...
  13. font ID help please

Can anyone identify this font? whatthefont seems to be stalled at the moment and the picture wasn't good enough for a few other id sites. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
  14. removing cut vinyl from a wrapped vehicle

What? You mean like calling you the night before they have to leave for a race several hundred miles away and wanting you to redo all the sponsor decals? :ROFLMAO: Never happens.
  15. removing cut vinyl from a wrapped vehicle

Some great ideas. Carbon fiber it terrible as far as getting any adhesion. I had a car that I had to do that was almost all carbon fiber (hood, trunk, bumpers, doors). It was a nightmare.
  16. How do you know if a print head is going out? Roland SC540

I am pretty certain it is. It is on a cement floor. I can double check, but this has never been a problem previously and it is still in the same place it has always been. I'll check, just for the heck of it.
  17. How do you know if a print head is going out? Roland SC540

Fortunately, the latest test print is looking great. I just ran a few test prints and the missing square cleared up. The wipers are sparkling clean and appear to be in great shape. Unfortunately, I am encountering a new problem. I was printing a 12' banner, black background, white and green...
  18. How do you know if a print head is going out? Roland SC540

The only reason I say gremlins is because the machine failed to give me a low ink indicator, and now my cyan is printing with a missing square in the middle of the test print. I know I have cyan ink this time. I can't see how it could have clogged in a perfect square pattern in a matter of 12...
  19. How do you know if a print head is going out? Roland SC540

Well, I feel pretty dumb. As soon as I read the responses a light bulb went on. DUH! that's why it is out on only one side... Apparently one of the cartridges was indeed out. The machine never indicated a low ink level. I only use OEM Roland ink, so I have never had this issue before...
  20. How do you know if a print head is going out? Roland SC540

I have a Roland SC-540 and I am experiencing an odd issue with my black ink print. I recently replaced all of my capping stations and things were going well until I went to print this last banner. The blacks were printing more gray so I ran a test print. The black was almost nonexistent for...
