  1. Loading Edge into HP L500

    Loading Edge into HP L500

Curved edge (Smiley Face) with 1/8" to 1/4" vinyl trimmed off backer.
  2. HP L560

So, We don't really have any more jams. I've weeded out a few types of material that caused it. Mostly stuff with non-coated paper backing, which retains the memory of the core (curve). So this would be many poster papers, and solvex perf etc. All materials I feed forward just to the inside of...
  3. Opinion What would you say...?

I think you're missing the point that they are brand new, and I would literally be actively helping them get a foothold in the area by installing for them. I know there is going to be competition, but that doesn't mean I need to help create MORE of it.
  4. Opinion What would you say...?

Well I already offer installs for extra money to a local wrap shop that has pretty much guaranteed accounts. Basically wrap jobs I've already missed out on, so getting paid for the install is actually a really nice way to still get my piece of the proverbial pie. Which is completely different...
  5. Opinion What would you say...?

A new shop in town (ShopX for anonymity) who markets Vehicle Wraps, has neither printers nor installers. They called themselves a "print broker" to me. They subbed out the printing from somewhere and got an installer from another wrap shop to install a wrap...and it said "wrapped by ShopX" on...
  6. Plasticizers And The L560

The only things I can say about the L500 series is that it's Very loud...which only matters if it's in your small office rather than it's own room etc. And loading substrates requires some methodology. Example: Avery 1105, being thinner vinyl and not aggressively holding to it's backer, likes to...
  7. Plasticizers And The L560

Used the wiper roller on banner material recently (Zeelon) due to it looking crappy. It helped in some spots but not all...then seemed to get a little more uniform, however, it's still not "great". So as long as customers aren't expecting awesome print quality on cheap banners, no problem. If...
  8. Wrap Institute

I gotta disagree with you on this one bro. He features so many different videos & techniques for wrapping so many variations of objects and areas, that you can "learn" a great way to approach something from someone else, or a short cut on something, that you would have to figure out on your own...
  9. Need Help Silvering Matte Laminate on Vehicle Wrap

Yes, with those special considerations listed by Avery for UV inks (heat assist), it can be laminated to UV inks. That doesn't mean you should then try to wrap a vehicle with it. UV cured inks (at this point in time) are not meant to be stretched (as on a vehicle curve) for the specific reason...
  10. Silvering Under Overlam, Anyone Else?

Of course you would ask a completely relevant question about a detail I know full well should have been a part of my post. It's cold only. Royal Sovereign...pressure is all the way up, same as I've been using for 8 years.
  11. HP L560

It stays open on it's own.
  12. HP L560

I am dealing with the jamming as well. I found that the materials are slightly curling in the heating area and sticking to the ceiling of the heater panel, which causes it to stop feeding, thus bowing up in the printer area enough for the head/carriage to jam. Either I feed it out to the take-up...
  13. Silvering Under Overlam, Anyone Else?

Do any other HP Latex users notice silvering on laminated prints? (micro bubbles between lam & ink).
  14. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

It's up close quality and printing speed do look attractive. Too bad NONE of my clients would even notice the difference on their products and the curing speed is still infinitely slower than the Latex's immediately. The no curing time scratch resistant and wider range of substrates is what sold...
  15. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

The extra $5K wasn't worth the difference in ink savings honestly. I thought about it for sure, but numbers didn't add up. IF I was burning through that much more ink to make a difference, It'd be better to just buy 2 560's instead of one 570. (or is that wishful thinking?)
  16. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

I've spent almost a year trying to decide between the HP 560 and the Roland TrueVis VG. (I'm a Roland user for 8 years and loved it) Been watching the Latex machines evolve and keeping my finger on the pulse of their users, as well as the TrueVis users. Having watched tons of videos, comparison...
  17. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

First off, for those throwing out "top speeds of printer X", let's not be so silly! Nobody prints at "top speeds" unless it's a weekend long banner or a billboard. Most shops using these printers need "Indoor Quality" speeds on average.
  18. Avery Digital Film Class

I was there too, at Restyler's Choice.
  19. Suggestions Looking At Buying A 2 New Printers The Age Old Question Latex Vs Eco-sol

Roland makes great machines. I've had one for 8 years...only had to change 1 print head. The heads are all twice their life expectancy. That being said, I just bought a L-560 (only difference is L-570 is $5k more for bulk ink system). I don't know of a single Sign shop (though they may exist)...
  20. Avery Digital Film Class

Don't wait for your boss to sign you up. Sign up on your own, and get the time off. IF he's willing to reimburse you for it, even better. It's YOUR education. I've taken it twice over the years mostly for the booty (over $700 materials for a $350 class back then) and took the certification test...
