They should paint them but I don't think they intend to. I had also suggested some decorative finials. They just wanted a 4' x 8' sign, what they do with it from there is ultimately their call, but I'd add some dimensional moldings on the posts, finials on top, and do a matching two or three...
Well, we cut our first sheet of polycarbonate with the saw and the existing non-ferrous metal cutting blade that we had in it last week and it made a very nice cut. Thanks for all the great tips!
We used 6mm ACM and the city workers made a pretty up to snuff frame to put it in. We had hella high winds rip through here yesterday and it's just fine. It's so ironic that you brought this up because they just got it put up about three weeks ago and I finally got around to driving out to the...
As much I like the sign, it's painfully obvious that there was no use of typographic design involved in this when there clearly should have been. I'd like this even more if the letters were structured properly.
Do you have any issues cutting long panels as far as keeping the panel from teetering up and down as you try to push it through the saw or do you use two people to feed it? We have eight foot extensions on ours but nothing beyond that, so I was considering buying some adjustable roller stands or...
Yeah, I thought the same thing. They have a similar design and tooth count so I will absolutely try the non-ferrous metal blade on some scraps first before investing in another blade.
I think you fellas are right. It was an old panel and I assumed it was poly, but it must have been acrylic. Melted like crazy.
Do you have a particular kind of blade that you use on the panel saw? I mean, would I need the special polycarbonate blade or would I possibly be just fine with my 22...
Well, our shop has been getting by for a long time with the luxury of having our materials cut by Grimco. Recently, however, our local branch merged with a not so local branch and they, for whatever reason, decided not to relocate their ten-foot shear to the new location. Long story short, we...
If you keep striking out, just pick some Rapid Prep and Rapid Tac. That's what we've been doing. Rapid Prep cleans surfaces extremely well and they both have a much more pleasant smell than isopropyl alcohol.
Good luck finding a lot of things. Economy wire yard sign stakes have been problematic to come by in recent weeks and I needed six bags of mortar mix Saturday. I went to Menards and they were completely out and Home Depot had five so I bought their last five bags.
Anybody have any idea what the font shown might be? I found Kiner Bold, which is close but no cigar. I'm also on my home computer working late so I don't have access to Find My Font, just online resources. Any help is greatly appreciated.
That's been my experience too. It can be hit and miss on some things, but does a pretty good job, especially when identifying commercial typefaces. Overall, I think it's well worth the small cost. It's saved me a lot of time.
Well, shame on me for jumping to conclusions. As it turns out, after discussing the effects of humidity and how it effects print media with an Orafol rep, the problem wasn't the media but rather must have been the recent spike in humidity. Having had our own printer for at least three years now...
Indy Imaging can but I say use them at your own risk. My experience with them has been less than stellar over the years so we only use them for a couple of specific products that we can't get done elsewhere.
Just heard back from our Orafol rep this morning. Great people. It sounds like they're going to work with me on a solution that will hopefully involve replacing the material.
