  1. Fb500 shop vac

The fb500/700 is no longer being sold. I think it was 4(maybe 5?!) Years ago we got an alert saying after 5 years they would no longer make parts. That's why we got rid of ours... We looked into a step down before because the vacuum table on the FB sucks. You can't close a section off... So...
  2. Fb500 shop vac

I don't think it was nefarious, most of the parts inside the HP flatbed are Chinese. If I recall it even uses the 220 volt Chinese plug, it's not just wires. I believe there is 120 volt on the machine in addition to the 240 volt, but the way the machine tells the vacuum to go on is by giving...
  3. Fb500 shop vac

Sadly no. I didn't know it was just a shop vac before I got it serviced. You can buy a 220v to 110v stepdown converter for $50 on Amazon - then plug a 120v into that. I don't know if HP has any software detection to block that... But I doubt they would. Amazon has free returns too.... So...
  4. Help with HP 700 latex

I stand corrected... I could have sworn our rep told us it was like a primer and it allows the ink to bond to the material better, so stuff that flakes off / scratches easy you should increase optomizer and it'll help it bond better...
  5. Help with HP 700 latex

You could try turning up the optimizer, optimizer is what bonds the print to the material. If the material sits for a day or so, it also becomes more scratch resistant... I have a light cloth material I print on, its pretty scratchable fresh off the printer - but once it sits for 2 days you...
  6. Help with HP 700 latex

Its really scratch proof, humidity or not - We do tons of stuff unlaminted and it stays up for years. 651 is a non printable vinyl - That could be what your issue is... I've never personally tried to print on it, but it isn't Latex / solvent compatible, just thermal. I'd supply them with some...
  7. Help with HP 700 latex

When you did the print...did you have the overcoat turned on? Most medias turn it off presuming you will be laminating (At least all the medias we use have it turned off). we found it pretty scratchable unless we turn the overcoat on
  8. 6ft x 48ft wall mural

A wrap that big with IJ35 is asking for disaster... when your client wants to remove it... You'll be taking down chunks of the wall! Anyways... why not throw a cheap lam on? even a $100 roll laminate would work for an indoor wall. Then its thicker and wont stretch as much. At the very...
  9. I was hired to wrap a vehicle and now they are mad at me... my blood pressure is through the roof!

You can just open the pdf... And goto print to pdf and it'll re save it as unpassword protected. Most people only password protect editing...Not printing.... And printing to pdf saves it as a vector so 90% of time you can just print to pdf and don't need to use any software or online program...
  10. Signmaking Extrusions in Canada

Do you.have a Samuels? We buy direct from them. Usually have to buy by the skid for certain things. It all depends on your area. A local metal shop will be cheaper and better than Grimco
  11. I was hired to wrap a vehicle and now they are mad at me... my blood pressure is through the roof!

Customer supplied artwork.... Customer problem. It's nice if you catch these things - but you shouldn't be expected to, or blamed if you don't. You didn't get paid to create or check the artwork. Unless you editing the file lowered the resolution, it's not on you. If you upload a file to a...
  12. Need Help Anybody have some 3M 1170 Red Transparent DOT overlay film?

Ask one of your local traffic shops - for 1 sign you'll probably be paying more in shipping than the sign is worth ..
  13. help deciding on a new purchase. latex or eco solvent. My breakdown on Roland BN20a vs HP115 latex is hopefully at least informative

Another good point. When I started my "Side business" I purchased a latex 115, laminator, and graphtec - Thinking it'd all fit in my 2 car garage. That was 3 years ago - I'm currently up to using all my garage, all my 1000 SQFT of downstairs area, and my "Den" Which is about 10 x 10 for...
  14. Wrapping restaurant tables, material recommendation

What do you guys charge for wraps? I'd think wrapping this would cost more than buying a new table... At least we wouldn't touch it for under a few hundred each table. If it's some super fancy wooden table that has meaning to them.... Yes, you'd.need to sand it down. Then I'd put a graphic on...
  15. help deciding on a new purchase. latex or eco solvent. My breakdown on Roland BN20a vs HP115 latex is hopefully at least informative

Unless your printing daily, or every other day, don't buy a solvent (Roland) The 115.... You know it doesn't have a cutter built in right? You can buy a bundle. But now you have 2x 54" machines... Taking up 10x the foot print of bn20. Everyone I know of who bought a printer as a side...
  16. 3M IJ175 alternative?

Most of the cost is In install - On a bundle you can save what... $1-200 ? A full roll can get you 3-4 full wraps. So a net savings of $70-100 with markup. Avery, Arlon, oracle - all are pretty equivalent though, you'll be fine with either brand if you stick to a named, reputable brand.
  17. News Two-step verification

Much easier.to balance a box of tools or a handful of vinyl in one arm and pull a door open than it is to balance it in one arm, fumble for your keys in your pocket, hit unlock, open it, then put your keys away. If my phone has a glitch.. it's a good thing I still have to carry my keys /...
  18. News Two-step verification

Yeah, that's what I meant. My truck has a keypad too - but I like not being forced to take the keys out of my pocket. Comes in handy having it auto unlock when I'm close, then when my hands are full I'm not fumbling. Then it's got a push to start button too - so I can just press a button and...
  19. News Two-step verification

And it's only "natural" - I'm a techie. My phone can control my home - from playing music on 6 different speakers, to unlocking the front door / opening the garage.... It can start my truck (I have it setup to start 10 mins before I leave for work every day, don't even have to touch the app...
  20. News Two-step verification

You don't even have to unlock your phone for under $200, just tap the screen button so it's turned on and hold it close - way faster than using a card! Yeah, were talking saving a minute... So it's not much. But it's the same with keyless entry on a vehicle - it's so convenient not having to...
