  1. Finding right cast vinyl

I don't get why people struggle with non air egress for something like this. Can it be done, sure - but your time wasted doing it will negate any savings on material. We do a lot of striping for our municipality - 3 colors, 1 Reflective 2 non - They specced permanent, non air egress for the 2...
  2. Mimaki JV300 Plus or Epson SureColor S40600

A bit too far, then! The s40 is nice. It's super cheap, half the speed of an s80 so it's a bit slow... But it has the same quality, which is pretty much the best in its class. We use latex for 90% of our prints, then anything really small, or anything that needs photo quality or perfect...
  3. Mimaki JV300 Plus or Epson SureColor S40600

Are you West coast? You can always come check out our s40 if you are. Compare it to our latex as well... If your worried about head strike, nothing beats $100 use replaceable heads.
  4. Mimaki JV300 Plus or Epson SureColor S40600

Spicer's does Mimaki in Canada. The s40 is awesome, just have to be sure it's not too slow for your needs. Having 2 heads on an s80 isn't bad, you'd need a really really bad head strike followed by a ton of bad luck to damage both at once.
  5. Need Help FC9000 - Cutting Issues Barcode and Mark

Funny enough, it doesn't even matter if it's the same PC. If you have onyx cut server opened on one PC, cutting master won't cut on a different PC until you close onyx. Flexi may work better.. but that's because cutting master / Flexi is pretty much the same engine. You just need to make...
  6. Help me Decide an Upgrade: Roland VF2-640 or Epson 80600 Printer only?

It shouldn't be 7k more. I just paid $22k cad for the 5070 and a set of 1 liter ink. The 80600 was not than that, so it should be cheaper. That said... It's such with the tried and tested 80600, the resin is nice, but I'm not sure if want it as my only production machine until it gets more...
  7. Not the flying cars we were promised but still pretty cool

Crazy. I put an while motor I bought from China on my mountain bike to get to work and back - over here the bikes are limited to 30 km/h... We'll, I bought directly from china and I could get my bike to go 75 km/h.... It felt like a death trap. I can't imagine being on a single wheel going...
  8. What do you use for clear coat?

Powdercoating the sign makes it very hard for anything to stick to it - We use 5-6 different types of Screenprint inks, and only enamel and Epoxy will stick to the surface... I cant imagine trying to put a can of krayon on it and hoping it'd stick and not flake off in a day or two. Throw into...
  9. HP Latex 800W

How's your 570 working for you? Our 560 was great. Went from a 110 to a 360 to 2x 560s... No issues with any. Got a 700 - now panel length isn't as accurate - you can get it accurate by running some calibrations and only printing when it's on the take up reel... But that was never an issue for...
  10. Need Help Epson s60600 banding/missing nozzle

When I had the issue every tech pointed to it being the dampers as well, however I believe on these printers the dampers aren't removable and it's the duct assembly you need to replace...
  11. Carnage on the highway, tractor trailer overturns - Not for the faint of heart!

In a 2 week period we've had 3 trucks hit overpasses in our area. Between 25 and 75 million in damages each time... Can't fix 2 of them and they need to be rebuilt. All by inexperienced truckers - because there's a trucker shortage, the training and bar to get in has become lowered.... why a...
  12. Right/Wrong Ethical/Unethical

Most places are ok with substitutions, not like they have much of a choice. I believe 3m window perf has a really long warranty / estimated life compared to everyone else... So finding a comparable warranty would be hard... But I'm sure the other brands hold up just as well. We use...
  13. Solvent Printable Holographic Vinyl

I buy some holographic from a local supplier in Canada - they have a BC and a Toronto branch. Its way cheaper than grimcos... It's super thin, you have to laminate it or its like a cast vinyl. It's a 4 mil - but feels thinner to me. It's super cheap... So even though it comes from Canada...
  14. Need Help Epson s60600 banding/missing nozzle

Yup. That was exactly my issue... Except for me it was 15 ft. There's a temp fix... Under settings somewhere you can set it up to run a cleaning after 10 / 15 ft of prints. It'll make it so you can keep printing unti you get the issue resolved. It does waste ink, so I wouldn't recommend it...
  15. Need Help Epson s60600 banding/missing nozzle

I had the same issue. Does it happen after xx amount of ft? If you can't figure it out, below was my issue - I was told it's likely the pump cap assembly or the duct - epsons manual tells the techs to replace the head, pump cap and duct at once.... But usually the duct and pump cap assembly...
  16. Ads?

Bumping because I was browsing on my phone... Saw a cool image I wanted to look at only to be met with an ad. Then you click the ad... Or even x to get it to go away... it pops up a block the same size telling you who's supplying the ads. It's impossible to get rid of it, so it makes browsing...
  17. PPF Templates

If you buy 3m ppf... They give you an account for free. They tried to charge for it and too many peoplemgot mad, so they delayed it. Not sure how much you have to buy - but your Grimco / other rep should be able to get you a trial account... Which I believe is first 10 cuts / or xx months...
  18. Nuts & Bolts

hahaha... glad We're not the onlyones. We have a "Specialized" set of tools in a big toolbox thats under lock and key - only Me and the owner have the key... And if someone wants a tool, its a quick what do you need, and we unlock it. We do have a set of community tools - Everyone has their...
  19. Nuts & Bolts

Buy a dozen or so small magnetic metal trays. Label them - front driver door, frost passenger door.. bumper, etc. Keep all the screws in there as you take things out. There's so many different sized bolts and screws, getting some of each will nearly be impossible - there's too many...
  20. Cheap Bulk Stickers - 100 Stickers for $7 ??

Our printers may cost $500 in parts to make (probably a bit low!) But what we pay for is the RND. The cheap $500 chinese printers are throwaway printers - something goes wrong and they just buy a new one and discard the old one. Of course not everyone is that way... But look at the lack of...
