I have seen a roland printer that was converted to print films but we never had any luck printing films with the standard cmyk solvent printers. We have an epson 4880 converted to all black ink we use that to print our films for silk screening. Works great
Mactac IMAGin B-Free JT 5999M BF Series Permanent 3.1mil Print Vinyl
i haven't used this on windows yet but it does a pretty good job on equipment. i made 2ft x 3ft logo printed decals and with the air release it had very minimal visual issues with the adhesive. i would try a sample first but...
we have the roland xr-640. great machine over all. metallic leave a little to be desired. it is slow as hell as already stated. i probably use the metallic once a month and haven't had any issues (yet?) when you print silver it's great but when you print colored metallic you print the silver and...
good luck when ever the customer wants to install a large graphic by them selves..haha
why not print a mirrored image on air -release clear then print the 2nd image on white vinyl with clear adhesive and mount together.

what does the art look like and how are you printing?

Listen everyone loves a pat on the back for what they do right but unfortunately that doesn't always happen but doesn't mean you shouldn't't make efforts to make your division /unit/area (whatever you want to call it) better and if the job is that bad that you don't get the recognition or pay...
mistakes do happen and always will from the bottom of the employees all the way up to ownership. sounds like you just need a better QC dept/person or if you don't have one get one. if you are putting out so many jobs wrong that the owner and customers are complaining then you as the manager...
and door to door isn't so bad. not saying you should rely on that alone but nothing wrong with that along with everything else. many times i have been driving somewhere and see a potential customer and stop in. nothing to lose. also try to find print brokers, they are free sales people for you.
