  1. Roland Versacamm VS-540i using only 4 channels

You remove the dampers from the head ( not from the ink lines ) and block them off. Like I say, its a bodge, but it can work. Obviously you can't just leave them open as they will drip ink everywhere !
  2. Roland Versacamm VS-540i using only 4 channels

There sort of is. You will need to disconnect the dampers from the bad head so no ink will fire from them. Then when you print, print in high quality and set it in versaworks to overprint 2 times. This isn't ideal but sometimes can give a decent printed result depending on what work you are...
  3. SP-300V Cut carriage cable question

Have sent you a DM :) They are all things you can change yourself if you are reasonably practical, and don't need any special tools so no need to call in techs normally :)
  4. SP-300V Cut carriage cable question

Startup and cleaning noises can be a few things, but normally is the scan motor starting to have problems
  5. SP-300V Cut carriage cable question

I sell spare parts for the SP300V, and I would say the most popular parts other than service parts that need replacing are the scan and feed motors, pump, heater control board, main power supply, cut carriage board, print carriage board, main print carriage board to main board long cables...

  12. Need Help Network chip Roland VP540

I would agree, not to mention a lot of less developed countries have very bad mains electrical supply and buildings may not have the best wiring either! It always amazes me how many people plug expensive equipment into bad electrical supplies
  13. Need Help Network chip Roland VP540

Basically yes. If you get a micro thin break in a trace on a board sometimes the heat can make it connect again, but then when the board cools it opens up again. The problem is they are generally impossible to find them to make a proper repair. However! heating the board can cause more problems...
  14. Roland VS-540i... to trash or not to trash

Ah shame, if you were closer to me I may have been interested
  15. Roland VS-540i... to trash or not to trash

    Whereabouts are you based?
  16. Decal needs to be 50' long

Definitely tile and make to fit the natural breaks. Trying to fit a 50' long stripe in one piece would be next to impossible without messing it up a lot - particularly if they are fitting them themselves
  17. SP-300V Cut carriage cable question

Yes that is correct. Its not a particularly hard job to fit it yourself, you just need to thread it through where the old cable went. When I do them I normally tape the new cable to the end of the old one and pull it through
  18. VP-540 no power

Ah sorry no, I have the VP300 and VP540 and SP540i . I sold the last VPi one a few weeks ago
  19. Need Help Network chip Roland VP540

Yep. Sometimes finding a fault on a board can be easy if its a main component has failed, then you get the ones where it is a trace or a via or something hidden under a chip. Baking a board only really works for reflowing bad solder connections, it rarely helps with bad traces. Personally I...
  20. VP-540 no power
