You can try cleaning it doing a manual clean and a couple of powerful cleans, it may improve. There is a lot of nozzle deflection there though so it could be time to replace if cleaning doesnt help.
Do the cleans first, then if no improvement try an overnight head soak
If the LED on the print carriage board is lighting, then the power supply should be fine. In that case it is most likely a failed main board. You can get used tested ones on Ebay.
Note Roland havent made them new for years, so any sellers claiming to sell new ones are either a complete scam, or...
Get a couple of cheap electric fan heaters and point them at the printer to warm it up before using. If the heat is localised around the printer is should be fine.
Have you tried using it with Flexi? It is more than likely a copy of an existing printer, so if you try different ones in there you may find one that will work for it
I think they advertised it as something like 'prints on 760mm media' which is technically correct, but it can't actually print 760mm wide. You just need to accept it as the max width will be whatever you have it set up to, then make up your artwork to suit.
I would guess around $6 per sq/foot. It all depends on your overheads really, Add in wear and tear on the machine etc.. It depends on the client as well. Are they a massive corporation who can easily afford that, or a small independent who probably can't.
I can see it taking maybe 1 or 2 days...
While it is better for a printer to print every day, they can be left for short periods as long as they are left plugged in so the cleaning cycles can run. Most problems are caused when people leave printers unpowered for weeks, or for months with just the cleaning cycles running but no print...
The printer measures the printable area between the pinch rollers. If you move the rollers the printable area will change. Even though it takes 760mm wide media, it can't print this full width, about the most I get on mine is around 680mm leaving a bit of extra vinyl either side of the rollers...
If it is leaving some cut then the servo board should be ok. It is most like the solenoid in the cut carriage. These aren't available separately though so you would need to look at getting a used cut carriage to replace it
Yep. They are one of those companies that are more interested in selling mugs and t-shirts with eagles on and crap than actually making bikes these days :( I'm surprised they don't sue every sign company in advance just in case we get tempted to make one of their logos.
Don't start me on Harley !
Customer : Can you make this old harley design for my gas tank in these original colours?
Me: Sorry, only option for that is to see if you can get it directly from harley themselves.
Customer : Have tried that, they don't make them
Me : Sorry, can't do any of their...
When I have had occasional jobs where the cutter has cut a bit too deep, so it doesn't want to come off cleanly I just use a spare piece of vinyl ( one of those odd colours we all have that never got used ). Whip the vinyl off and use the unused backing paper from that on the decal.
Some companies can be a bit daft with copyright. We had a customer who was doing a round britain cycle ride with a couple of friends for a VERY well known charity ( and a very dodgy one who give hardly any money they make to the actual people they collect it for ! ). He asked them if they could...
