  1. Do you laminate your plain vinyl lettering?

Tha laminate will eventually break down, and make what's left of the vinyl look worse.
  2. Looking for help on purchase of used HP315

(Phew!. I have Signlab 9, too, but really dislike it! Onyx I find way better. Plus Corel.)
  3. Looking for help on purchase of used HP315

You WILL need a RIP... WILL. It's not a freebee download, either. Ask them...
  4. Mesh banners tearing in wind

I too, had one let go when I was a teenager, and fly across the back of the ute (pickup) and clobber me in the forehead like a golf ball. But there is quality and there is trash. I'm not talking about using the Five-for-$2 chinese specials that wouldnlt hold a pair of socks up in a line dancing...
  5. Here's an absolute new one for me, after 51 years.............................................

I'd be keen to see what he thought was crooked - 1/64" is about 1/3mm, and virtually imperceptible with a tapemeasure to most people, compared with parralax error from looking slightly sideways. 1mm off is no big deal, 2mm, tolerable unless it is blatantly near an edge or something. I wonder...
  6. Mesh banners tearing in wind

Bungee cords: some above have scorned the idea, but in the right place they can be an asset. We used to make pole banners for local towns. There's a big light pole with 2 two-foot long arms coming off 14 feet up, 5 or 6 feet vertically apart, and a plate welded on the end. A 2 ft x 5 or 6 ft...
  7. Mesh banners tearing in wind

    - 50 pound zip ties... that's about 20 kg, or a 5 gallon bucket full of horse feed. I wouldn't own something that weak, let alone use that to hold a rosebush up...! - Banner tape - I'm amazed that held up on mesh at all - that's wonderful. iI'd have thought that would fail first. -slits, as...
  8. Wayfinding Signage Abbreviations

There are standards - but it depends on which subject you are talking about. The one that irks me a lot is people putting KMS on a sign, for kilometres, when the international standard abbreviation is km, all lowercase, no plural S at the end.
  9. HP 360 Latex Question

I ended up with a dead L260, the same way you were offered yours. I ended up buying another one, working, just to be able to use up the consumables, and the first one became a parts donor. They're obsolete but I'm trying to get it to last while I still have 25 ink cartridges & 2 head cleaning...
  10. Question HP l26500 Faulty Ink Cartridge Error

"HP Ink cartridges are under warranty..." The L260 cartridges won't be under any warranty-even if original, due to it being a discontinued & unsupported model nowadays.
  11. Question HP l26500 Faulty Ink Cartridge Error

Just use the 'replace ink cartridge' sequence from the printer console. It will release the vacuum & seals etc, let you do it, then recharge. Keep the 'faulty' one - I find you can put them back later and they can work ok...
  12. pricing for installation of dimensional letters

How long to pack, travel, unpack do the inductions, check-in, do the job, pack up, check-out & travel back? One day? Half a day? Whether it's 3 letters, one logo, or 25 letters, the price is fitted into estimated % of the day used, timeframe, (1/4 day, 1/3 day etc) plus materials used, NOT...
  13. How to hook up old Roland plotter?

I use our PNC1410 directly from Corel X3, and the instructions I'm sure I've typed if you search PNC1000 But everything must be a hairline outline, get the drivers from Roland Dg website, Legacy systems, and I could not make it work on a 64 bit PC - only a 32 bit PC. I use Win 7 also.
  14. Newing Hall 400 - queries

T thanks tons for the assistance!
  15. Help with laser cutting of 1/4” Alupanel

I guess you meant to reply to the original poster? We already have some lasers and a router... But I agree- he's unsure of what it is, and how to cut it... not a good combination to be starting with. Alupanel on its own, can be cut out with just a jigsaw/scrollsaw, or even a hand router if you...
  16. Help with laser cutting of 1/4” Alupanel

I would use 1/4" acrylic for that...
  17. Mimaki CG 130 FX2

    Good- well done.
  18. Mimaki CG 130 FX2

Yes, either that, or the sensor that tells it the pressure rollers are down, mightn't have registered that they're down, yet. There's be a limit switch of a sort to tell it that it's ready to give you the next signal.
  19. crazy question

Usually it's insides before outsides... but whether to do all insides first, or just each character's insides, before moving on, depends on much - including your software. Corel often has a last item created gets plotted first, option. With our cnc router, you can select -shortest path to the...
  20. Newing Hall 400 - queries

Ian we have chatted in the past and I am guessing I mentioned Lightburn software for the Ruida- much better than RDworks IMHO. Our members know a lot about Ruida controllers. Thanks, Gene. Yes. I have Lightburn here also. It is good. I'm very comfortable using RDWorks though, since I design in...
