On one wall I have part of a banner with an MRAP on it. Other than that some client comps are stuck on the walls. It's really a mish-mash of stuff and doesn't matter since clients won't ever see it.
If I had an actual storefront I would display completed jobs for clients with name...
Tex is on point. Ballpark "guesstimate" first. If I have to travel for a quote you're paying me. It's called having some skin in the game and it definitely weeds out the tire kickers.
Laminate requirements are dependent on state/county/city regulations. In my area I use an automotive clear in a spray can. Works a treat and no complaints.

Get stuff tested. You can also have a company come in and test for VOC's and other air borne contaminants. Factory where I used to work did that and would have employees carry tiny air pumps with trap filters that later be analyzed.
Sounds over the top but with this increasingly...
What type of equipment? Engravers or lasers? Lasers give you many more options. Guy local to me does nothing but plaques and trophies for some of the local schools. He runs an Epilog laser and says he he's busier than he wants to be most of the time.
Mimakis in the lab print great. Two dual head and one print/cut. I just don't care for the complicated menus, loading new materials and other things that escape me right now.
Mimaki sheet cut: If you don't advance the media the tiniest bit you can't access the menu to sheet cut.
Then it's a...
Never use Dawn for anything related to vinyl. It has something in it that screws up the adhesive and makes it fail. Not that I would know anything about that..
Get in touch with the tech that replaced the heads. Warranty is 90 days.
Depending on how hard the printer was run prior to the head replacement I'd have the tech check the cables. They're consumables.
You will need to figure out the tension. Knurled knobs on the shaft ends - CW for more tension - CCW for less. Mine are turned maybe a bit less than halfway tight.
I run mine with just enough tension that the laminate doesn't sag when unspooling. Too much tension and you introduce all kinds...
That's a rebranded Royal Sovereign. You need to make sure the laminate tension is set correctly. I also run bogus paper on mine so I don't have to worry about laminate sticking to the roller. Bogus paper tension also needs to be set correctly.
I've said it before I'll say it again...
The way things are going the "ballpark" may be changing again. Wife and I were talking last night wondering when prices for anything are going to stabilize.
Flexi 8 was long before the "cloud" based offerings. Regardless here is the issue: If you can't afford a monthly subscription how do you buy supplies, pay for utilities, rent etc..?
If your plotter is a Summa you should be able to use SummaCut for contour cutting. Not sure what free/cheap software would drive the printer and work with SummaCut.
Honestly though if you can't afford to get basic software it may be time to rethink what you're doing.

You can build a unit or two to suit your needs. Best thing would be to have separate clean room, or some type of curtain system like a body shop uses. Curtain system wouldn't stop all of it but I bet it would mitigate the problem.
