  1. Think it's too subtle? LOL.

Yay for the squint test!!! I tell my students about it, it isn't taught in their other courses. I also tell them to use the gray scale test when using a computer for layout. They never heard of that one either.
  2. Travel Fee for Sign Services?

I have one client an hour away that's flat rate. Otherwise it's shop rate per hour, one hour minimum. BTW it ain't just the fuel that's gone out of sight. Go buy a set of tires.
  3. I didn't believe the manufacturer

Film...my favorite memory is using a Zenza Bronica for a shoot. The build quality, the silkiness of the controls not to mention the photo quality. Good stuff. Could have bought one decades later at a rummage sale for 400 bucks. Included an array of lenses, filters etc... Was a mega dollar...
  4. 2003 jv3-160s any good?

Junk, on top of being nearly two decades old. Ink has most likely dried and ruined the head, lines, capping station, dampers and so on. Only value might be in the circuit boards, display etc...but that is questionable. And printing is only a small part. You will also need a laminator and...
  5. How would you make and install this projecting building sign?

Years ago I worked off and on with an old school sign guy. One thing he said sticks with me to this day and is the reason I no longer put signs on buildings, work on pylons, dig holes etc... He said: "Once you pull the permit and install the sign you own it forever". Translation; Your name is...
  6. How would you make and install this projecting building sign?

Before I'd get too deep in the how to I would check two things: Is the existing structure stable? Wind load in my area would be 840 pounds. But that's my area, check with the town engineer. Are you able to replace according to existing ordinances? Sometimes when an old sign comes down it can't...
  7. Roland or mutoh

About going to their facility to print when your printer is broken. Signwarehouse is in Texas and you're in Iowa.
  8. Suggestions Wall mural vinyl substitutions....

    Could try Wall Noodle.
  9. Font ID please

Antique Half Block from Letterhead Fonts might work.
  10. One up on Gino

  11. Converting desk home / office ECOTANK printer to large format solvent ink???

Eco solvent inks will eat that thing alive.
  12. Roland or mutoh

That's him. He also sells converted Mutoh printers and media for hydrographic printing.
  13. Here's an absolute new one for me, after 51 years.............................................

He signed the contract and you did the worked that he raved about. Then suddenly he doesn't like the job? Sounds like he has ummm..."issues" As far as his rant you can tell him social media works both ways.;)
  14. Roland or mutoh

Probably Einstein in Freedom, just outside of Green Bay. Scott has been solid and easy to deal with. Not sure where you are distance wise though. Can always tell him RJ sent you. I don't get anything for referrals, but it may help you.
  15. Roland or mutoh

Which dealer in Wisconsin? I work with Einstein and they've been on point.
  16. Odd question for time & material

Ask yourself this: Is the money you make worth the BS you have to put up with to get it?
  17. Roland or mutoh

Get whichever brand has a dealer in your town. Don't go for the deal two states over. I guarantee you will regret it. Case in point. My printhead died late Friday afternoon, so I called the dealer. Monday by 11am I was producing a wrap for a client. I've owned both and currently have a...
  18. Looking for larger sheets for pole sign

You presented the OP with facts and he probably rethought his "skills". I stopped replacing sign faces and working on pylons years ago. Liability and the cost of insurance put the kibosh on that.
  19. HP 360 Latex Question

You will nickel and dime yourself out of business buying that roach. But if you want a never ending reminder of why you don't buy someone else's problem I'd say go for it. Truth bomb: Get in touch with BigFish and he will get you set up with a used latex printer that will actually work.
  20. Shop charge for laminating customer supplied lam.

Years ago I laminated for another shop. Charged a buck per linear foot and they supplied the laminate. Was a good gig until the owners retired.
