  1. Why the color variations?

Print a Pantone color chart and hang it on the wall. That's what you can print, pick something close. If what you want lies between two colors on the chart, choose the darker of the two. Never forget that what comes out of the printer is the truth, absolutely nothing else is.
  2. Cutting weird

I don't know how many times I've posted this information but it still applies. Anytime a plotter starts cutting weird, skipping, strange corners, misshapen cuts, the very first thing you should do is remove any dust cover from the tool carriage and blow out all of the accumulated dust and crud...
  3. Dust under laminate tips?

Dust and crud is everywhere and not special to you or anyone else. If you're experiencing this problem and only a few others are doing so as well then the cause most likely is not dust. Is what you're laminating cut with square corners? Vinyl, as well as most anything with an adhesive backing...
  4. Amish circular saw....

Perhaps it's to be a musical instrument in a jug band.
  5. Used Aluminum Composite Sign Panel Sheet

Why is it better? Is what you get for it even cover your expenses of just getting it there? Regardless, I find endless uses for the stuff. It's excellent for masking patterns and jigs as well as various gadgets such as an attachment to my plotter that keeps the media roll from jumping off the...
  6. Font ID

Just find a Roman style type face where: the center of the 'R' doesn't connect to the upright, at the top of the 'A' the right leg goes by the left, and the vertical leg of the 'G' goes by the curve. Even at that, it's embroidered, no one's going to know.
  7. Need a floor graphic for indoors that will hold up to automated robotic forklift traffic?!

It's not what vinyl you put down on the floor, it's what you put over it. Shrug, I kind of like the previously proposed projector idea. I do admit to some doubts as to being able to project an acceptable image. Perhaps you could rout out a circle say 1/4" deep on the floor. The put the logo on...
  8. Blade drops momentarily before cutting actual design

It's just initializing and attempting to determine the media thickness.
  9. Problem with new cutting blade sp-540v

Whatever the problem might be the solution most likely won't be found by replacing hardware and adjusting settings that were fully functional before you changed blades. What you have described can be caused by a tool carriage contaminated with dust and crud. Remove any dust covers over the tool...
  10. Corrugated Trailer - 1 color - Needing Advice

Traditionally corrugated is always at least double the price for flat work +, depending.
  11. Anyone cut vinyl directly from Corel?

I've been using SignCut Pro for that last 3 or so years. Once you get the hang of it it works quite well. It supports contour cutting as well. The auto sensing works fine but the manual mark registration is well nigh unusable. All in all, worth the $130/year.
  12. Lamination issues

More than likely what you think is square is not. An alignment error of 0.01" at the start will become an error of 0.96", close to an inch, at 8'.
  13. Dealing with "incorporated"

If memory serves, the lyrics used 'corporated', not 'incorporated'.
  14. bob

Comment by 'bob' in media 'donna reed oval'

What is are 'Opticans'? Might this have been 'Opticians'?
  15. How do you Mounting Pads to ACM ???

Properly colored and countersunk cabinet screws are barely noticeable, even by banks.
  16. How do you Mounting Pads to ACM ???

Any reason you can't just screw your ACM panel to their wood sign?
  17. Flexi Can't Cut Corners Properly

If the plotter cuts properly with Winplot and not with Flexi then there's nothing wrong with your plotter. I would suspect that Flexi has a lot of settings that it's sending to the plotter and the plotter is not setup to ignore them. You should set up your plotter such that it functions properly...
  18. Question about painting over Aluminum siding..

The point, which seems to elude you, is that painting a sign differs from painting a picture, mural, or your toenails, not in degree but in kind. There is little to nothing in your experience painting 'art' that will be useful to you in an attempt to paint a sign. I speak from well over six...
  19. Question about painting over Aluminum siding..

I'm sure that you'll manage to get some paint up there, but it most likely won't be a professional looking sign. It'll probably be Yet Another manifestation of what's known in the sign business as 'nephew art'. There will be no doubt that you did it yourself.
