  1. Need Help Ripped open metal effect

I am working on a personal project which requires a image or program that can produce high quality ripped metal effects. The idea is to have prints on a vehicle that look as if the metalwork of the vehicle has been ripped open to show something else underneath. This is where it gets difficult...
  2. Mutoh 1604 Cyan leak back

Can anyone confirm this is a damper problem?
  3. Mutoh 1604 Cyan leak back

The Cyan on my old 1604 is leaking back on one of the cyan channels. Will this be a damper/O ring problem or do I have other issues? Maintenance station is about 2 months old and I have no other problems with colours except one of the cyan channels. Thanks SC
  4. Mutoh mainboard repair service

My 1604 has ran for years with a dodgy ethernet port. It is currently weged up with a bit of tape. But on looking it should be a relative simple job to solder a new port in if you can find a similar port. Mutoh want to replace the whole board all for an ethernet port!!!! SC
  5. Need help with vj1614

Also if you have dripped ink onto the electrical connectors you could of blown the head which will require replacement. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it happened on my printer. Just be happy it has not taken the main board with it. SC
  6. Printing Issues with 3M SV480mC Wrap Material

I haven't come across banding issues using this material or the air release not working. But when laying a lot of darker colours (especially solid black) it is as if the materials coating cannot cope with so much ink. In the UK the 480 and 180 materials are the only ones being sold and 380 is...
  7. Question mutoh 1204 check ink wont go away says i have ink ?????

I am always gentle fitting tne ink cartridges but I have still bent the pins. I now use a bulk ink system which eliminates the constant removal of the cartridges. Like I said it's a real bad design on these machines. SC
  8. Having problem with Printing Mutoh VJ 1614!!

Check for fluff around the print head. Even the smallest piece can create blurring. I have found the reinforcement weave in banner material to be a real problem. Check that the head rank number is correct in both machines. This sets the head up correctly and can cause discreprancies in the...
  9. Question mutoh 1204 check ink wont go away says i have ink ?????

More than likely bent pins on the card reader. Really bad design on these machines as I have now replaced 3 sets on my 1604! SC
  10. Printing Issues with 3M SV480mC Wrap Material

I cannot believe anyone has had no problems with this material. I have also found the material to ink can "all I can call it is shear". It is as if the ink is having an issue with the coating on the material and if too much is reacting with it. SC
  11. Question STS MP11 (for VJ-1617H) Reviews Needed

I think these have a special ink developed by Mutoh so they can print onto a wide variety of sheet material. Bit specialised these machines even though they are based on proved technology. I was a bit concerned the print area is just 1615mm x 1200mm. I would of hoped it would at least print...
  12. Mutoh VJ1624 [KCMY] S/C Read Error

Your problem could be bent pins on the card reader. This is a notorious problem on a machine using cartridges with the card bonded to the side. If the new ink cartridge goes in slightly squint or the card isn't in the perfect place the edge of the card catches the pins and bends them back...
  13. Printing Issues with 3M SV480mC Wrap Material

I am having some issues with printing 3Ms SV480mC Wrap Material on my VJ1604. It is very hard to picture it, but it looks as if the material has a static issue and the ink is being drawn onto the material. This is 3Ms new updated PVC free wrap material which is just a strange material and even...
  14. mutoh 1614

The damper has not sealed properly to the manifold. Either not pushed down hard enough to seal, the seal on the brass union to the manifold is not tight or perished or the manifold on the print head has a crack causing a leak back. Also can be a faulty cap seal on the capping station which lets...
  15. Need Help Mutoh SC1400, Contour Cutting & Signlab preparing to join the dark side...

I have a VJ1604 and a Mutoh SC1400D. Also use Signlab 9.1 but sadly do not use Signlabs RIP as it is over complicated and the colour rendering compared to Wasatch RIP. When used with signlab I have come across no problems Printing and Cutting. The only thing I have noticed whilst using the...
  16. Need Help tax exemption responsibilities (TX)

I do not know how this works in the US. But in the UK if I have a client who states they are Tax exempt (Charities, etc.). I will still issue a taxed invoice and expect this to be paid in full inclusive of the tax. If they represent this to their accountant they should be able to claim back the...
  17. Need Help Car Wraps, Design to Print to Installation

I find you have to have two files running. One for the customer as a visual. Then one for yourself with overlaps and sheet sizes built into it. Your file will look a mess and I personally will work with just an outline of the vehicle placed over the top of the print to check where everything...
  18. Just sold a sign....Now how do I make it?

How can you sell a sign and not know how to make it?!!! This is a recipe for disaster in anyone's books. I know I can't sell anything unless I know how much the materials and labour come too. Then I can work out my profit. You are going to end up out of pocket on this one. SC
  19. Printing Neon colors

Fluorescent printed inks are not going to last to long on any printed surface. They will have faded within 6 months. SC
  20. Best digital

I can understand wanting to trade up on your Roland as the sp540i runs the old Epson DX4 print heads which can be entertaining to align properly. Personally I would be going for one of the later DX5 or DX6 printhead machines as their is less to go wrong and print speed and quality far surpasses...
