Next question is why it took 2 days to mount 17 4'x8' prints. Two guys should be able to do that in around 4 hours.
Save the backing paper for slip sheets to protect the prints.
Long term, laminate for protection and no laminate for short term jobs. Liquid laminate is an option to prevent the curling but most of us don't have a liquid laminator for the large jobs.
I'm sure their motivation is twofold; They sell more product and make more money, and it benefits the...
When you do a cleaning an lose more nozzles it's usually a clogged damper/ink starvation. The dampers have a screen in them to keep large particles from reaching the print head. When you clean the head the inks are sucked through the dampers and print head faster than normal agitating the...
My guess is that the OP is having the same company print, and cut the decals and backing to shape. Those flatbeds are pretty quick and efficient have good optical registration. I bet if you forget the hourly rate an look at the per piece cost it's pretty good.
If the price is affecting the...
C60 M30 Y0 K100 should give you a good black with the least amount of ink.
Also realize that your profiles have ink limits within them. If I remember correctly 3M has a total ink limit around 280%. So you can send C100 M100 Y100 K100 but it won't put 400% ink down.
My understanding is that the printer uses all the colors to make black unless you tell the rip not to. "K"isn't a very rich dark black by itself an most will give you a formula for rich black like; 60C 60M 60Y 100K or some variation.
I guess I forgot to mention we only add tension when developing a problem. That way we could make it to the next break in prints without loosing any prints and start fresh. Like AF, if everything is running well no tension is needed to run half a roll or more.
PDAA Certified Installer Search is a great tool. http://apps.sgia.org/pdaa/installerSearch_result.cfm
It's not a guarantee but just like 3M's certification, at least one person at that company knows what they are doing.
We always made sure we left enough room between prints on the roll so, if it walked or started to develop wrinkles we could cut between the prints and start again. On a 100' print I would make 5 to 10, 6" breaks.
I found that adding tension to the prints and then slowly backing off helped...
If it is the rip stopping the print (now processing) it could be that you don't have enough free space on your computer for a scratch disk or your network connection is flaky.
The easiest is to make more room for a scratch disk on your computer. To clear all unused files click on the window...
Here is a guide on the type of blades. https://scraperite.com/product-guide
I used to think these things were worthless, but they are worth it. A lot cheaper than a little chisler, sharper, cheaper, and the holders are more comfortable if you have to use them for a long time.
If they are a pain your only option is probably going to be heat and plastic razor blades. The scraperite razor blades fit in your blade holder of choice and the different colors are different plastics. Some are stiffer and more likely to scratch paint and others are softer. Link...
Not to mention 1/8 acrylic will expand and contract like crazy depending on the temperature. Alumalite or Diabond or similar ACM's are a lot more dimensionally stable and would need less stand-offs.
There are multiple ways to install these types of signs and it depends on the wall, future...
Avery has had a blank liner since they had a huge problem with the ink on the liner transferring over to the laminate on finished prints. It has been years since the logo was on the back.
Easiest way to tell if it is Avery is by the hexagonal pattern on the adhesive.
I also wouldn't use intermediate or calendared vinyl on a boat or car. Typically I only use it for banners and coroplast signs. No one likes the adhesive dirt rings left after the vinyl shrinks.
Gregory will make custom roll striping like that with enough room for your markup. Use their 6500 series vinyl, I'm sure it's Gregory branded 3M.
http://www.gregory1.com/ Been awhile since I had them do striping like that, you will need to call them for custom striping.
No mater how old or how new heat is your friend (somewhere between warm and really hot) Your best bet is to use the summer sun an work on the sunny side. Unless its 100 degrees you may need to add some heat. I usually use a weed burner on aluminum and fiberglass trailers. The fiberglass trailers...
