  1. Brand new S60600: Grainy/Fuzzy Output

Where are you at in the USA? Our local vendor is really helpful, but Epson really should take care of this issue for you quickly/easily. We have our 70675 and also our 60600 and the 60600 has way better quality and speed. Blows the older model away. We run Onyx here also, and I believe we had to...
  2. Another spelling mistake

Road signs like this aren't just "printed" from the digital file, the letters are applied (riveted?) to the surface. Probably just pulled from a box/bin of letters if they make a lot of these signs.
  3. Suggestions Proof Layouts

I use InDesign and just place my artwork into it and export a PDF proof to send over to the customer for approval. Sample attached. "Locking" a PDF doesn't really do anything. I don't think I've ever encountered one I couldn't easily get into. However, I do use the "save for web" feature a lot...
  4. Brand new S60600: Grainy/Fuzzy Output

What media are you printing to? Usually the printers we've purchased have come with "sample rolls" of 180mc. I've seen really crappy prints like that on really cheap vinyl, but never on anything else besides latex printers with bad heads. An s60600 shouldn't have a print like that ever, ours...
  5. 20 mil vinyl

I would recommend a heavy laminate, but the vinyl itself doesn't need to be that heavy of a mil. Something like Arlon DPF8000/8002 would be a great vinyl for this.
  6. Help setting up mimaki

Here's what to do: Uninstall everything you've installed so far. Get a GOOD firewire cable, and get a Texas Instruments Firewire card for your PC. (both should only be around $30-40) UNPLUG the machine and install all the drivers, then plug the wire back in. Purchase a Flexi subscription to run...
  7. Imageclub10!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait, a Canadian company had a sales rep allegedly named "Terrance Phillip"...? lol! (Southpark fans will get it)
  8. Avery Dennison failing over and over

Can we ask which material it is? Some of us might be able to recommend a replacement material.
  9. New Generation Epsons

Yes, we had a horrible experience with it and Epson. We changed our RIP profiles to not use the orange ink after that and have not had any problems since. Still decided to continue using their printers, but went with the MCS inks on the newer 60600 printer to guarantee the ink/prints. I have...
  10. New Generation Epsons

Get the 606000. Dual CMYK heads that'll print incredibly fast. Great color gamut, smooth solids and repeatable colors. We print a LOT of vinyl and have yet to need or use the silver ink after 3+ years of owning the 70675 printer and rarely use the white ink. A word of advice to all those out...
  11. Chrome Vinyl

I think we installed it a couple years ago now and haven't had any issues. We put a test piece on the owner's truck around 5 years ago and it was still going strong when he sold the truck 6 months ago. DO NOT use a torch to install and also be careful not to scratch it!
  12. Looking for some 3M material

What's wrong with some regular old IJ180c? Call your local 3M rep and ask them their recommended replacement material. There is a real nice 3M printed materials reference guide they should have given you a few copies of or can send you a link to...
  13. Chrome Vinyl

Avery has a Chrome Wrap Vinyl. We've cut it for vehicle graphics before.
  14. Help! Edge 2 foils won't advance

If you end up needing parts get a hold of me, I have a few parts machines.
  15. Need Help Ai scaling help

Think of everything in inches, that keeps it simple; so a 35' x 10' job is 420 x 120 inches. Just move the decimal point one place over so the 420.00 inches becomes 42.00 inches and you have a 1/10 scale piece of artwork. In your RIP/printer tell it to print at 1000%. I do a lot of murals, box...
  16. S80600 disconnects mid print

I have had some issues with our 60600 just stopping printing randomly that sound kind of similar. Everything hardware-wise here seems to be ok also, can't figure it out either, but it only happens a time or so a week.
  17. S40600 is amazing!

If you've been to a demo and seen one run then you've smelled one run. We are used to multiple solvent / eco-solvent printers running here so after a couple days we've never noticed it again.
  18. Help! Edge 2 foils won't advance

Sounds like your Edge is needing some maintenance. Unfortunately, there aren't any "local techs" out there that can come look at it and tell you what needs replaced. A lot of parts wear out over time and most of us just deal with the issues and make workarounds until it becomes a big issue...
  19. Adobe Adds Font Matching to Photoshop

It has been in the software for over a year, I believe I've only had it match a font correctly once. Most of the time it is WAY off. I'm surprised they don't have a font identifier on their typekit website.
