  1. How Much Time for Box Truck?

$8 a sq.ft. Installed for flat surface things like Box Truck Sides and enclosed trailers is spot on market average but there are areas that charge less. Especially shops using cheaper calendered vinyl in spite of the rivets/screw heads, and shrinkage on overlaps. That's how they charge less and...
  2. Pontoon Wrap with Collegiate Logo...What Would You Do?

Pretty sure if you make money (or not) using a trademarked college logo without their permission...it's considered "Illegal".
  3. How Much Time for Box Truck?

Charging based on how long it will take on a box truck wrap doesn't make sense. It may take me 8 hours and takes you 16 hours but we should be in the same neighborhood. I would quit this business if I had to charge less for doing the work faster. Typically you charge by square foot on box...
  4. Do you really wait a day to laminate?

I lose roll my under a fan to outgas overnight...when it's possible. As we all know...that's not always possible and laminate immediately after printing in emergency situations. The adhesive IS more aggressive when laminated right away.
  5. Best heat gun for wrapping?

I use both Heat guns and torches. Black & Decker was given to me...when my Metabo was stolen or left in the back of a customers vehicle...not sure. I mostly use the Heat Guns for any post heating or some complex bumper work when heating large areas etc. Loved my Metabo cause it heated fast but...
  6. PVO Taking After Badwrap?

    A. Is this product compatible with Corel software B. Is this the same product I get sales calls for by someone called Taryn? (anyone else get called by him lately?)
  7. Bubbles in groove

That's probably the most common install mistake area on vans (not feeding/heating). You'll have to trim it off above the recess and lay in a new piece with an overlap. Trimming on the van takes an experienced hand. That's the "without re-wrapping whole panel" solution.
  8. Mutoh VJ 1324 VS Roland VS540

Roland over 4 years, no print heads replaced (yet), cleans itself, comes with software, & I've been using 3rd party inks for 3 years now with NO ink related problems. I can only tell you the number of times my buddy's Mutoh made him lose sleep. BUT that's only 2 peoples experiences.
  9. Online sign designer

I WISH all the other shops around me had a customer design powered program on their website. I've only liked ONE wrap that came out of my shop that was customer designed. The others...I don't put in our gallery etc. because I can't explain to the tens of thousands of people that are going to...
  10. removing molding and emblems from a vehicle, best way?

Wedge a flat head screwdriver behind it and PULL! Easy as pie and then a razor gets most of the glue off after. jk
  11. Wrapping Over Silicone?

Spend the extra time for silicone removal and charge for it. Simple.
  12. Gallery wrap pricing?

+1 It's not really that much time and materials for the amount of profit. Don't know what all the fuss is about. Not every job is going to have a HUGE profit margin in my shop...like a wrap does. The fact I offer custom canvas prints gets customers in the door. Once they're in...some become...
  13. Grrrr. Customers buying cheapy camouflage vinyl off the web, looking for someone to..

A lot of those are matte vinyl matte liquid laminated. Been getting a few more lately. I hate how repetitive those "name brand" camo patterns look on vehicles. Looks lame in my opinion.
  14. Concave area around van windows

That is actually white silicone. I relief cut it. I also trim out the black vertical seals where panels connect.
  15. Concave area around van windows

Just tent it, work finger around edge then cut it and lay it down flat. Don't try to stretch it. You don't need primer or anything. It looks fine and doesn't mess up the graphics. Customer will never say anything about it. Here's examples of ones we've done.
  16. aligiment cutting - shadowed text

Duplicate both, weld, no fill & make the outline for cutting
  17. Off Gassing - recommendations

This is fun. Engaging in something other than politics anyway. Regardless of who I believe is right or wrong, this type of discourse applies to many arenas in life and unfortunately most people don't know why or how they came to their beliefs. As long as it doesn't become a personal attack and...
  18. Off Gassing - recommendations

Today's lesson in sound argumentation: Your premise: I've not experienced it. Your conclusion: Therefor it does not happen. Our premise: I've experienced it. Above is a video demonstrating someone else experiencing it. Our conclusion: Out gassing reduces the aggressiveness of the adhesive...
  19. New Solaris 440 Ink has TOXIC smell, anyone else experience this?

I use Solaris Inks. Have for years. There was a day or 2 not too long ago it seemed a little stronger smelling in the print room. Odor is back to normal. There are 2 different types of cartridges now...so perhaps to keep up...they are being produced at 2 different locations.
  20. Off Gassing - recommendations

*sighhh I must argue...not because it's my hobby...but I may not sleep tonight if I don't. Ok...perhaps I like a "good argument". Some of us are speaking of the Aggressiveness of the adhesive because someone was asking about it and your advise to them is...it's a myth. I know this is going to...
