  1. Help Out Bigdawg

As one of the most recent recipients of the generosity of this forum, I want to encourage all of you to contribute to this cause no matter the amount you can afford. I don't know if you ever knew but y'all raised I think over $3,400.00 for me. You want to talk about money that couldn't have come...
  2. Bigdawg Needs Our Help

I could only go $50.00 as I'm on fixed income now. I'll send more if I have an unexpected windfall. Fred, I never saw a message feature, so I'm letting you know now it was a gift for Stacy.
  3. Need a Mac...

All I can add to this is that at my last place of employment as a designer at biggest electric sign company in town, we hired a new salesman once. He had recently left a competitor. He proudly showed us on his laptop the previous employer's entire customer contact list with many jobs in the bid...
  4. Back in the saddle again!

Welcome aboard what I'm sure you'll find to be the finest forum around staffed by the finest people online. I recently dusted off my sign painting career and am amazed at the volume of work I am picking up. Since I am permanently retired on a disability I look at the sign painting as a micro...
  5. Cross Training

When I worked as a pinstriper for a then major motorcycle manufacturer, there was a standing company policy of if you wanted to be promotable you had to be constantly training replacements for yourself. The end result was that in a custom paint department of about 60 employees, I'd say at any...
  6. Hello From Indiana/Kentucky

Southern Indiana... my favorite place on earth. I last lived high in the hills of Floydds Knobbs. My backyard stopped at the 13th green of Fuzzy Zoeller's home golf course. Pure Heavenly delight. I'd like to be back there this time of year when the leaves are beginning to turn. Welcome to the...
  7. a... house? I think

Looked like a half hour of digitizing to me. A skill anyone in here should have. At my last job me and other designer were constantly having to draw (digitize) on top of photos of buildings complete with all architectural detail for absolutely realistic renderings. You get pretty fast at it...
  8. Direct to garment inkjet printer

Anyone in here got one of these who would be willing to do a whopping order of 2 or 3 shirts for my personal use? Still working on the artwork, but will have it soon. Thanks!!
  9. Custom Easel made by former Nazi

I'll document the whole thing this weekend and email ya the pics. Shoot me a PM with an email address.
  10. Custom Easel made by former Nazi

About 25 years ago my shop was in a maintenance bay in a huge aircraft hangar at a local airport. The shop next to me was occupied by an aircraft builder who learned his trade in an underground aircraft factory in Germany during WW2. I became quite good friends with Herr Tischler and was...
  11. You make stickers, right?

I don't have this problem with vinyl semantics anymore. Although, for the record, I always thought "stickers" was right up there with customer's perception of early vinyl letters as being "tape" letters (as in "I don't want those damn tape letters. Either paint my truck or I go elsewhere"). You...
  12. Bantam Jeep Festival

Wow... I'd love to attend and crash on Jill's couch (or wherever she'd let me sleep!). Of all the vehicles I've owned in my life, I miss my yellow jeep the most. Nothin' like cruisin' with the top and doors off for a one of a kind road experience. Jill, is this an annual thing? Maybe I could...
  13. Major malfunction - Need emergency help!

I booted up shop computer this morning and got an unsettling surprise. I can't open ANYTHING on it. Every program I try brings up a window telling me the program needs to be reinstalled, or some variant of that message. I've got a paid antivirus/spyware program running that I also can't open to...
  14. OCD or bored???

That's a far better OCD than the one I am plagued with. My brain RELENTLESSLY counts all the time I'm awake. Mostly it's multiplying bu fours. Everywhere I look I see four: four corners to a ceiling, a door, a window, four corners to the bricks in my fireplace. Walking thru a store I multiply...
  15. Too high for me!

I couldn't even watch the whole thing - gave up halfway through. That is one seriously fearless dude. I remember seeing an old black and white film clip of a tower like that being winched up into place years ago. There were six guys riding it up. The cable snapped when it was almost vertical...
  16. hand pinstriping

Back when I was a pinstriper at a major American motorcycle manufacturer, striping a full 2-3 V twins a day, I was actually that good at our repeat layouts. We didn't have many repeats though as we were advertised as a production custom manufacturer and every job had to be slightly different. I...
  17. 10:45pm are you still working ?

7:30!!!??? I thought I was headed for old fogeyness going to bed at 10pm!
  18. XP AntiSpyware 2012 virus has struck

Anybody know how to get rid of these annoying SECURITY BREACH popups?
  19. Update on the real Bigdawg

There is something basically deranged about us guys. We want to rush our healing and disregard sound medical advice. I've done it 17 times now, and regretted it 17 times. But have I learned yet? NO! Testosterone has to be the culprit. We just want to see how much of our former self we can muster...
  20. Tiling on PNC950

I'm still awaiting someone to give me a clue here. I'm guessing that a non cut specific program such as Corel isn't going to generate tiling info to the plotter. Since I don't know for sure, it doesn't hurt to ask.
