  1. VS640 not recognising cartridge

Sounds like the sensor is dirty. I'd open it up and clean it, if that doesn't work, then you'll probably need a new one.
  2. Test print problems roland vp540

Did you try what Solventinkjet suggested already?
  3. Math problem....

If you use Illustrator, there is a script (called AreaLength, you'll need to download it and put it into the illustrator folder) that you can use to give you the actually square inches it would occupy, not sure if that would be exactly what you need in this scenario.
  4. Roland XC-540 possible bearing problem, grinding

That's an over current error, which means there is too much pressure being put on the scan motor. Really sounding like the motor, as bearings rarely go. If you haven't replaced that motor and it has many hours on it, I would say there is a good chance that the motor is the culprit.
  5. Roland XC-540 possible bearing problem, grinding

Easy way to figure out if it's the scan motor or not is to disconnect it from the machine and manually move the cutting carriage and if there is no grinding and it moves freely, then you know it's the motor, if you're still experiencing issues, then it shows that it isn't the motor.
  6. Roland VS-540i Test Print Colors Order

I would change the damper first and see. You can also check the lines to make sure there are no air leaks.
  7. Roland XC-540 possible bearing problem, grinding

I recently had a grinding noise as well on my VS-300i, turned out to be the scan motor. Might want to look into that as well.
  8. Need Help White ink clogged Mimaki UJF 3042HG

Sorry for the late reply, been quite busy lately. Nozzle washing would be different. A head soak would be clamping off the lines after the cap top and filling the cap top with cleaning liquid, then putting the head back onto the cap top and letting it soak, then once done, do a normal or medium...
  9. Need Help White ink clogged Mimaki UJF 3042HG

White is the hardest color on a system, other then metallic and if you're not using it regularly, it clogs up, that is why a lot of people typically put in a cleaning cartridge when not using it much. Maybe try a 48 hour head soak and see if that gives any improvement.
  10. Since last Versaworks update the print and cut is reversed?!

Glad you were able to get that resolved.
  11. VG-640 strange test print, any ideas?

DIGIPrint sells both 3rd party and OEM, but the OEM are usually as expensive or more expensive then buying them from a local dealer, so depending what you paid, could probably tell you right away.
  12. Since last Versaworks update the print and cut is reversed?!

It's in the cutting options menu (cutting controls) up at the very top you, there is a drop down (Operation mode), and you can select print & cut, cut & Print, print only or cut only.
  13. looking for a main board for VP-540 Roland

Parts are becoming harder to find for end of life machines and most of the time it's easier and cheaper to buy a donor printer and take the parts from it, especially for boards. But you could check with sign-in-china and also DIGIPRINT to see if either have anything as well as maybe check with...
  14. VG-640 strange test print, any ideas?

Glad you were able to find the problem. Just wanted to make sure you replaced with OEM parts, as if you had used 3rd party, that might explain why they failed so quickly.
  15. Vs-640i magenta tint print out.

That usually happens when it's only a test strip or a very small file and you only have 1 print queued up. It's a little different depending if you are using Versa works 5 or 6, however still the same kind of basis.
  16. Vs-640i magenta tint print out.

Looks like you have some issues with the magenta and maybe yellow & cyan, however I don't think that would account for the magenta tint, I'm not sure if this is a common thing with these machines, however my VS-300I has always put more magenta into prints, therefore I always have to remove...
  17. VG-640 strange test print, any ideas?

I've had similar issues on my SP-300V's and usually it's the cap tops, however I have on occasion had to replace the dampers as the inks from one channel would go into the other and cause the mixing, so you can always check that, but if you are having cross contamination on the same head, it...
  18. VG-640 strange test print, any ideas?

How old are your cap tops, if they weren't replaced along with the heads and dampers, I'd do that first.
  19. VG2-540 to buy or not to buy? Pros/Cons, thinking of switching to Epson S80600

Really the only advantage the Roland has is that it's a printer/cutter, so if you only want a all in one printer and not 2 pieces of equipment, that would be the way to go, but if you don't mind having a separate cutter, then from everything I've heard and read, the Epson is better.
  20. Roland SP-540V - Shows up as SP-??? - Firmware Reset?

If your test print shows all the nozzles are firing, might need to replace the cap tops and potentially the dampers if they are over 6 months old.
