  1. Zund polishing bit

I do not have one but saw stuff it was used on when I was doing a demo at their headquarters. We have a flame polisher already and the edge the Zund puts out is already very smooth so if we want a polished edge we hit it with a quick pass using that. It would be interesting to hear others...
  2. Need Help Deciding on a Flatbed, Intermittent Use

I would suggest the Mimaki JFX200. We had one for 5 years and it was a great machine for a starter. When we got our new EFI flatbed to increase our production the JFX200 would sit for over a week. I could start it up and everything would be fine and ready to print on the nozzle check. If we...
  3. Mimaki JFX200

We had one of the first machines when they came out. I loved the JFX200 but it was just too slow for our growing business. We needed better than 18 minutes for a 4x8 sheet using CMYK. White was pretty good but will double print speeds. Our new machine is the EFI Pro24. 4x8 sheets in 6...
  4. Suggestions HP FB 500 or 700

Have you checked out the EFI 16H. We love ours and the white is very opaque.
  5. Discussion I know my answer already, what's yours...........................

Customer is always right.....right? I will suggest that it is not going to work well with black but if they insist I do it black. Then when they are not happy I can say remember that conversation that the black would not work good, then charge them to change them all.
  6. Question Premium Vinyl vs Flatbed Printing

premium cut vinyl will for sure last longer. I give options to the customer as direct printing is faster and cheaper. Let them make the call.
  7. Confused about dye sub and dye sub transfers

We handle DTG printing and love it. Maybe I am the only one. We have 2 DTG printers and a tunnel dryer. You are limited on DTG to shirts types kind of like dye sub. With DTG to get a really good print you need 100% ring spun cotton shirts. With the tunnel dryer it has a hand feel like...
  8. Custom cut boxes

We have done some custom cut boxes. We use a Zund cutter/router.
  9. ROFL.... "Print" shops

Retail we are at $3.50 per square foot(not including art) stitched/grommets and are on the higher end in town. There is a place in town with heat welded seams and grommets selling to the public for $2.00 per square foot. Quality of print is lacking but nobody cares about that I guess.
  10. Need Help Constant Streaks, Hand Prints on Flatbed (FB700)

This statement covers 75% of the workforce in the US. Nobody will ever care as much as the owners.
  11. Need Help Constant Streaks, Hand Prints on Flatbed (FB700)

I don't use gloves when handling material as I would hate taking them on and off all day. We run a EFI 16H and 24F and don't get streaks or finger prints. We use 99% alcohol, we order 5 gallon containers from Stoner. The trick to no streaks is getting enough alcohol on the substrate to clean...
  12. Opinion Considering purchasing a small UV printer need advice/opinions

We have the original versions of the Mimaki 6042 and 3042. There have been some major changes with the MKII. Ours have the Ricoh heads and I believe the MKII machines switched over to Toshiba. We have had 1 service call on both printers in the last 7 years. Not sure about the MKII users, it...
  13. Need Help Dark colors = greasy spots on my HP latex HELP!

I would say its not curing because the ink density is at 120%. That is pretty heavy on the ink its putting down. If the ink needs to be at 120% I woudl run more passes which slows the printer down to give it more time to cure and possibly increase the heat. I run most of our profiles at 90%...
  14. Need Help UV Printing Onto Brushed ACM - Edges Chipping

we print/route regularly on the brushed material. Make sure your bit is sharp.
  15. How cheap can ink get for giant printers?

Inks for my 24f from EFI are $199.00/liter for CMYK. If you go into the super wide H5 the inks are $1365.00 for a 5 liter container or $273/liter. So the larger printers are not necessarily cheaper on ink cost.
  16. How cheap can ink get for giant printers?

The "semi truck sized printers" don't print that great of detail. They are for larger signage that will be seen from a distance. The ink droplet size is much larger.
  17. Help! Window perf tunneling

I print Clear Focus Econoview all the time for short term graphics. I don't have any issue printing on our 560 with it. You need to play with your printing setting to get it right just like any other media for the latex. My guess is the heat is too high. We are at 12 pass/194 temp and 90%...
  18. Streaks Around Design

Could it be head strike or the head slightly rubbing on the substrate? I have never seen it look like that before just a thought.
  19. Discussion Any money in feather flags???

I make decent money buying them from Showdown and re selling them. Its not going to make you a million but to make about $150 and have to do absolutely nothing is free money. 9' double sided sells for $339.50 and I can get it for $203.00 or single sided sells at $223 and I get it for $133...
  20. Need Help Cut ACM twisting....

If your not able to print then cut because the router scrapes or the ink does not adhere your not using the right equipment. I UV print thousands of 3 x 7 blanks on 040 aluminum for a company that owns storage units with full bleed ink and have zero problems with the router scrapping or the ink...
