yes, that would look bad. in my suggestion, a print/cut / laminate/cut workflow with .25" offset cut line on the second cut, your final product would look like the attached image, with the black circle being your printed dots and the gray outline representing how far out your laminate would go.

I understand what they want, but dont you think you could give them a better product if you contour cut a laminate border? I would try and explain it and sell it to them. they get what they want (laminate edge protection) and you feel good about not giving them something that will look bad. just...

Roland XC-540 no laminate. its short term, couple of weeks so I didnt think I needed the hassle of laminating.
