  1. need printhead and installation

Sorry to hear. I've broken that little black piece inside the damper too. It does come off pretty easy, just 2 screws hold it on, just make sure the little rubber gasket between the manifold and the head is put back in place, otherwise it will leak and fry the head.
  2. need printhead and installation

Just to confirm, after you installed the new heads, you changed the serial numbers? Also I assume you did a powerful cleaning after you filled the heads with ink? One thing I can suggest if you've done all that is connect a syringe to the cap top line and pull ink through the heads then do a...
  3. Roland SP540v Banding

No problem, glad I could be on some assistance.
  4. Roland SP540v Banding

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about the nozzle test print, not calibration test print. Yeah that one on the right side looks pretty good. I hate to say it, but you might have to bite the bullet and get new heads. The nozzle tests don't look that horrible, but if they are all...
  5. Roland SP540v Banding

That's strange, because the nozzle test print shouldn't change. Do you have a photo?
  6. Roland SP540v Banding

That is strange, as there should be a noticeable difference and they look very close to one another.
  7. Roland SP540v Banding

I was, it is my newer machines that do that. Anyways, I would recommend bringing it in closer, and see if you notice any change, as based on that test print I don't think the head is bad enough to cause all that banding.
  8. Roland SP540v Banding

Maybe I'm confusing it with one of my other machines, but I thought it would print out a whole strip with numbers under it so you could choose which one was closer. I will take a look on my machine to see, maybe it's a detailed version or something.
  9. Roland SP540v Banding

Well that won't work then. Would you have the strip that shows all the multiple different options, looks like you could go a little more closer, not sure if it will make a big difference though.
  10. Roland SP540v Banding

Would you mind sending a photo of it and I will take a look to see if I think it needs adjustment. Also have you played with heat settings at all? Not sure if it would help with this, but never know.
  11. Roland SP540v Banding

One last idea, but maybe you've already done it, but have you done a feed correction, it's suppose to help with banding as well. TO do it, you go Menu - Calibration - Test Print, Then you should see if there is a gap or overlap, which could be causing issues as well. I had to look it up in my...
  12. Roland SP540v Banding

Just out of curiosity, does printing in uni-directional take away the banding? I know you mentioned it takes longer, which it does, but just wondering if it resolves that. I would also try 300 in the bi-directional to see if that helps any.
  13. Roland SP540v Banding

You can always try and see if Arlon has a profile for that media for the printer if the SG-G doesn't work well. I don't print signs, so I use Pre-Press US for the preset, but I print really small products, maximum of a few inches long or high, so small details matter and I find this profile has...
  14. Roland SP540v Banding

What speed do you print at, I've noticed over the years as my machines are getting older, I've had to slow the speeds down to get the best look, I typically can't go faster then 500 di-directional. But I'm also using a lower grade media. I typically use the profile SG-G, semi-gloss gray glue...
  15. Roland SP540v Banding

I'm in Canada too, I've used Digi Print, but not for heads. What media are you using. I have 2x SP-300V's, so the profiles should be the same.
  16. Roland SP540v Banding

I can see there still is nozzle deflection, although I'd like to say I'm certain it is the head, I cannot for sure know. But without adjusting profiles, speed or going to uni-directional, that might be your only option. Luckily the heads for the SP-540V aren't crazy expensive like the newer...
  17. XC 540 Tool carriage separates from head carriage

Have you tried separating them by hand when the machine is off to see if the magnet that connects them together is dirty and not keeping them together properly?
  18. need printhead and installation

You probably won't be able to get OEM parts anymore, but 3rd party are easy enough to find. I would recommend either Digi Print or Sign-In China, either one carries the heads. As for installation, you might be able to find a Roland Tech near you that might do it, however, most techs won't touch...
  19. Roland SP540v Banding

Do you have an old test print you can compare the current one to? Because it could be that only one or two nozzles are now deflected that weren't and could be causing your current troubles .Have you done a head alignment in the service menu? If you've done all the calibrations and alignments...
