  1. yet another help for font

He doesn't have the file - he's hired me to make up some more decals for his client, who got theirs from someone else. I think I've found an acceptable substitute though...
  2. yet another help for font

Looks like Impact Wide; "fingers" of the 'E' and 'L' are thinner than Impact. I've been searching for days, still can't find this stupid thing. And yes, it's the cleanest image I have, sent by the client. Anyone?
  3. opos eye replacement Summa D140SE

Dumb question: Are you sure there isn't lint or a piece of vinyl over the sensor hole? That happens to me more often than I'd like - and it always looks like the sensor has failed.
  4. Name that athletic font!

Yeah, I did the whole Find that Font thing and hit almost all the online depots. I can adjust the individual letters myself, but there is much more copy using it and I really didn't feel like taking the time to do that.
  5. Odd question for time & material

For this particular client I did just that. And when I dropped it off I reiterated that they need to check their lists before they send them out for future updates.
  6. Odd question for time & material

Getting back to this thread late: I don't typically have customers proof a list of names twice (i.e., they send me the names, I send the proof right back with those name) because they're personal names - names are spelled differently depending on culture. I have no idea if a person's name is...
  7. Name that athletic font!

Looks very easy, but it's deceiving. I've already tried (and bought a handful) such as Coach, Player Pro, Octin Sports, Octin College, Athletic, Superstar M54. I feel it's a system specific font for Gerber or something similar. All those fonts listed are very close, but either some of the glyphs...
  8. Odd question for time & material

Hi Ron. That's what I'm thinking - splitting the time/material. There are never any proofs for a job like this. Client sends me a list of names, I make the templates, go to the facility and gild on site. All I would be doing is returning that list for them to review. My thought is if they didn't...
  9. Here's an absolute new one for me, after 51 years.............................................

Yikes. Yeah, that's a new one. Generally if someone tells me something's crooked I'll break out the tape measure and show what I went off of (rocker panel, door crease, whatever). That usually satiates them. In your particular case, I'd take the loss. Remove the graphics (after taking a lot of...
  10. Odd question for time & material

I had quite a few clubs we used to do this same kinda work. When it was my mistake, I hadda eat it. When it was their mistake, we split it. I started upping my prices on them to the point, all but one has gone to different shops. Guess what, none of the other shops can gild, so they put gold...
  11. Odd question for time & material

Ask yourself this: Is the money you make worth the BS you have to put up with to get it? In my area absolutely. The clubs I service make up a very large portion of my bottom line in the spring. This particular club has over 100 more plaques that haven't been updated in years, and they're making...
  12. Odd question for time & material

I do work for about a half dozen local country clubs gilding their trophy boards with winners' names every year. From time to time I'll either screw up a spelling which I'll cover, or they screw up a spelling which they pay for. If there is a misspelling, it's generally caught within the first...
  13. Rotary engravers

Well, kinda my point. I have a buddy with a laser, but he can't do certain items. I am receiving more calls for engraving on lock-out tags and stuff like that. I have a 4x8 cnc for the sign end of things, but it doesn't have the resolution needed for a 2" square piece of metal. I'm looking for...
  14. Rotary engravers

It seems that there is still a need for these, and there is literally nobody within 20 miles of me that has one. So, I'm looking (maybe) to get a machine but have absolutely no idea where to start. I know Roland makes one (or at least relabels a common unit). Is there a go-to for a "regular"...
  15. Simple script ID..

Best I can do. It's off a business card at about 1/8"... But thanks! That looks like a very close match.
  16. Simple script ID..

But it isn't. I can't even "font ID" this because of some of the weird little details (and yes, the gaps were meant for the font ID mechanisms). Anyone?
  17. New 1324x!

Ah, interesting. Yeah, I imagine it's the little brother to the 1624. I'll have to check the short clean setting - I'm not sure what the tech set it at. Right now I have it for every 12 hours, figuring that since it'll sit overnight, it'll do a cleaning before I fire up the computer in the...
  18. New 1324x!

I know, not big news since they've been out a while. But it's new to me, replacing my gallant but now defunct 1204 :-) Anyway, since it's in the "getting to know you" phase, does anyone know when the "timer" for the cleaning cycles actually starts? I know how to set it up for 3 / 6 / 9 hour (or...
  19. Wrapping with reflective

Update: well, according to DK, I could almost hear him laughing on the forum. In short, he said that even with regular wrap film, those corners are next to impossible without multiple pieces. So I don't feel so bad the way I had to do it. He did mention to maybe try the Oracal brand vinyl rather...
  20. Wrapping with reflective

Yep. It is definitely a PITA. I've not seen any of CK's vids, I'll look into that and check out a website. Maybe he'll have a Q&A section :) * That said, he does have a forum, though a fairly hefty fee to join. If it helps, I've done the month by month and asked there. I'll post the findings...
