  1. Wrapping with reflective

Doesn't work, at least for me. I always have an oversize piece, then trim it down. Still can't get it to do that. It wants to bunch right at the "point" of the body break. Arrows show which direction that panel heads if you're unfamiliar with the cab.
  2. Wrapping with reflective

I've seen the video from Oralite and Justin Pate on their reflective wrapping, but it doesn't quite answer the question to really complex curves (and hide any stretch marks with a wild print). My issue is mainly the newer Ford F150's; I do quite a bit of emergency vehicle work, and I'd say about...
  3. Flexi, Onyx, Caldera etc etc... compare and contrast

They are USB dongles. I'm not sure what you mean by 'passing through' to the virtual machine; we had VM running when the dongles were plugged in. We tried going through the settings of the device manager and they weren't even listed. So.. right now it's a moot point. He was able to secure a Win7...
  4. Flexi, Onyx, Caldera etc etc... compare and contrast

I have dongles for Flexi, CoCut and a third for a Summa cutter. We fired up the computer, went into VM then plugged in the dongles. The machine never even "saw" them.
  5. Flexi, Onyx, Caldera etc etc... compare and contrast

We (my computer guy and I) actually tried that. It wouldn't recognize any of the dongles for Flexi or Corel (I run CoCut). Spent about 3 hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't find the dongle.. never was able to.
  6. Flexi, Onyx, Caldera etc etc... compare and contrast

Agreed on everyone's points. Really, the only reason I'm asking is I'm upgrading computer power and Win7,of course, is no longer supported. But who gives a rat about that - as long as I have the speed and storage I need, I don't care about what OS it's on. That said, I did have a conversation...
  7. Flexi, Onyx, Caldera etc etc... compare and contrast

WWD - I'm Windows based. Bal - I looked on the SAi site and all I saw were monthly subscriptions. I'll have to look again for a permanent license. I'd rather do a single outlay of cash than a monthly bill.
  8. Flexi, Onyx, Caldera etc etc... compare and contrast

In short, I'm needing to upgrade some equipment, computers primarily. I've been using Flexi forever, but only as a RIP. In fact, I'm still on version 8.0v2! I've been trying to read through all the various threads on all the different RIP's out there and really haven't found "the one" that is a)...
  9. Heat Gun Hip/Belt Holster

And oddly Gino, I was thinking about a something to hang a heat gun from my belt on Tuesday, as I was working areas that needed heat quite often and had no place to put the gun where it was easily reached. For guys that do the work alone, like me, extra hangers and mechanical hands are a necessity.
  10. Need Help Police car graphics

Not so. Police don't "retain" sign companies. The municipality will go to whomever the lowest bidder is. As long as it gets done, they don't care who does the work. That said - that particular graphic is a pre-packaged graphic from one of the dozen online emergency graphics retailers. The...
  11. 2021 Ford Explorer door handles

Yep, 2020's are apparently a piece of cake to the 2021's. Just seeing if anyone had a workaround. Normally I design around the handles; this department wants their image through the handles like their old cars... gah!
  12. 2021 Ford Explorer door handles

Anyone deal with these b***ds yet? I went to my bodyshop of choice to see if they would remove them for me (all I gotta do is throw a stripe down the side) and they said they won't even take them off unless absolutely necessary. Apparently Ford changed something in the 21 model year that makes...
  13. So, this just "fell off"? Hmmm

I've had clients try that too. However, there doesn't look like any adhesive left behind and a lot of bubbles in the other chrome letters. It's entirely possible it simply didn't adhere and they just ripped it off.
  14. Fully Vaccinated? Drop the mask!

I generally stay out of these debates because of the arguments that ensue and the "rights" that people feel are being trampled upon. But your quote isn't completely correct, Fred. You can still get the virus even when fully vaccinated. While you may not feel some or all of the effects, you can...
  15. vinyl not sticking-silicone type coating?

Some guys will polish the fiberglass with liquid glass. It's a polymer used in the marine industry. It's almost as bad as the new ceramic coatings that are being used on cars now. I would have said that, but the van doesn't look to be in that great a shape. But the box looks pretty good - my bet...
  16. Question "hardest" pvc product?

Yep. You're comparing extruded pvc to cast pvc. Two totally different items even though they are both pvc. Depends on what and where you plan on using the item and if you want a weight saving or not. For a countertop, hard to beat (literally) a piece of Corian or similar product.
  17. ShopBot Alpha Cutting 1/4" Aluminum

I have a base SB with a Chinese spindle, 3Kw. With a 1/4" Onsrud single spiral I've cut (slowly and carefully) 1-1/2" aluminum stock for a special project. A mister or someone standing there with a sprayer full of lubricant (like me), slower feeds and small bites and it does pretty well.
  18. Need Help https://www.calmstrips.net/

Shows people are suckers for a good marketing campaign. I'll just rub a piece of suede from my gilding kit... it's the same thing...
  19. Painting Alumalite

Make friends with a local auto repair shop. Properly scuffed and prepped, you'll have no issues. I do this in house all the time.
  20. Question Sandblast versus CNC pricing

What's your time worth. I think the last time I sandblasted anything was back in the '90's. In the time it would take to prep an actual wood blank (which is getting pretty expensive now), blast it, prep it again for paint you could have a foam "blasted" sign in less time. And probably less...
