  1. Another Supplier for formed plastic, metal, plaques and changeable copy letters

If you get it sent cod, you pay the cod fee ( understandable) but if you want to pay with a credit card they charge you. Since you have credit with them, you don't get a charge. I, on the other hand, pay for all my supplies when I order. I don't have credit terms with any of my distributors.
  2. Another Supplier for formed plastic, metal, plaques and changeable copy letters

There is also Wagner, but I haven't dealt with them in several years. Gemini is great to deal with, but the one thing that does bother me is I have to pay extra to pay them. The only way around it is get a quote, mail them a company check, and there is no "payment" charge.... it's just the...
  3. How many of you do this.............. ??

I always follow up. I want every customer to know they are appreciated, and the best way is to talk with them...even if it's a shoot the s#!@ conversation. Of course where I am it's still the good old boy network, and that's how you gotta play it.
  4. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

Could it be an issue with the film? How long have you had this roll? Are you close to ordering a new roll? I'd want to apply it dry and compare it to what you are seeing now. Fwiw, I apply everything on glass dry. I've never had luck applying any thing wet on glass, even with rapid tack...
  5. Vinyl not sticking to painted MDO

I've never used Hexis vinyl, but Sherwin-Williams paint is garbage. Your going to have to strip the panel and repaint. You want an acrylic enamel. Others complain about one shot, and I've seen some colors fade, but I've had good luck with it over all.
  6. Vinyl remover chemicals

Wall paper steamer, hands down. I have found "miracle vinyl removers" are more of a waste of time. They make the vinyl slick, but don't work on the adhesive.
  7. 2015 Poll on sign estimating/production software

Exactly what I do. I tried estimate, and I use it occasionally, but I pretty much just think about how long it will take, figure materials, and add 10 or 15% for f.u.f. When I get the final # I decide if it is where I think it should be, and if I think it low, I will add extra to where I think...
  8. Clips for Sign Cabinet

+1... The aluminum is pretty tough on these. I am about to change the faces in a sign cabinet for the 3rd time myself... And it's been changed at least 3 or 4 times by someone else... ( the location has changed hands at least that many times), and we are using the original flex clips. And, by...
  9. Outdoor Lightbox Signage

I'm not being rude, just realistic...You come here, asking for info for something that most sign shops know, or at least know the correct terminology... You know, we do see every other week where someone comes in and asks questions because they just started out, and usually the reason they feel...
  10. Outdoor Lightbox Signage

So, you've started a business making signs, and you need to order items that you don't even know what to call them...for a business that your family owns... So why don't you take a few minutes and let us know more about yourself, your business, your experience, and what you would like to...
  11. Radiant Heat in Shop

The biggest thing that I see is you do have a large shop, but also exposed beams... I'd lay money there is a lot of heat up there.... Like Phototec said, if you add a drop ceiling, it will bring your heat down to where you are... It may be costly to install, but you will see savings in the...
  12. Any unique Christmas gifts?

My oldest gave me and my wife a box with a pacifier and a note saying " dear mom mom and pop pop. Hang on to this in case mommy and daddy forget mine. Love baby Cooper. " Best gift ever. ..
  13. New Shop Finally Ready To Show

    I'm jealous...very nice shop.
  14. Best place to order pre cut polycarbonate or acrylic sheets...???

I order all my polycarb from Harbor Sales. They cut it to shape, and deliver within a couple of days.
  15. newbie from tx diving in head first.

+1. I'm glad I'm not the only one that read that. We get this at least once a week... I was hoping for some redeeming post, but nothing as yet. And I was really waiting for the first layout, and someone giving an honest answer, and then getting a snide response. .. I miss the old Gino...
  16. Facebook Freedom

I just deleted my account as well... I always hated the way Facebook made people think that they are so self important... I don't give a flying s#&t what you had for breakfast, or what time you took a s!&t... But the main reason I got out was I got a friend request from my ex wife....I...
  17. Girlfriend gave me christmas early this year

I'm still on PS3. My brother in law has a PS4 and the graphics do seem a little better, but I can't justify dropping that kind of money for something that my ol' lady will just holler about... Besides, I just got my system last Christmas, so I'm going to keep it at least another year.
  18. In The Shop This Week

That's cool, Craig. I went there while on my honey moon. ..A cool place indeed.
  19. Sign Shop on CNBC's "The Profit"

But we still like ya', Pat, even though your, you kno', Canadian, and all...:Big Laugh
  20. Wet vs Dry Application

I personally have never had luck with a wet application on glass, even with RT II. Glass installs are always dry, polycarbonate installs wet, and any other substraites can be done wet, but I do them dry.
