Heads
You may want to plug the lines from the caps to the pump so you can fill the cap tops with cleaning solution. That way you can soak the heads in the solution. Or pull the heads out and put them in a 1/8" bath of cleaning solution. Get a syringe with a flexible tube that will fit over the...
laser or cnc
Find a shop with a router or a laser and have them cut you the templates out of plastic. Get two made so you can load one while the other is in the printer. What kind of printer do you have?
Not to worry
From my info the one style of part that may be hard to get are the parts for the old three headed printers. The four headed units will have parts available for another couple of years.
Gravity
Try increasing the height of the bottles. This will increase the pressure on the ink in the lines. If you go too high ink will start to drip from the heads. Make sure your dampers have clean screens also.
Mimaki
I have the actual OEM print heads on my site
www.solventinkjet.com
be selective when you shop for these as they need to be exact for the printer to see them.
Roland heads
We have them at www.solventinkjet.com.
We are Denver Colorado based full service large format dealer with experienced techs that can help with the install. Free tech manuals with every purchase.
cap tops
what color are the lines going out the bottom of the cap tops. There are some aftermarket ones with clear tubes that do not work as well. The OEM caps have black tubes. I have them if you need them
head rank
it's alfa numeric with 18 digits so not sure how long that would take. The rank will only give slight, if any changes to the way the head fires. Did you do all the alignments per the tech manual?
too much pressure
what type of bulk system do you have. I have seen systems where just lowering the bulk tanks 1/4 of an inch reduces the pressure on the ink delivery system.
capping station
you may just want to get a new one. if you don't do it right the screws that hold it together may hit your head. I have them at www.solventinkjet.com
Cap top
Have the guy change out the cap top, that may bring the black channel back. How old is that printer? a new one with two sets of inks and a warranty can be had for 15k
Parts
I would start with changing out the cap tops and the wipers. If you want to open it up, change the dampers on all the heads.
PM me if you need that tech manual
we sell those parts at www.solventinkjet.com
Roland SC545EX
Stay away from that one, it is old and slow. That printer is a six color unit that has six print heads and is over 10 years old. You should also consider the RIP software, the 545x may be running the old colorchoice RIP which they no longer support.
Mutoh now has a 24"...
Higher solvent content
My experience with these light solvent inks is that the better ones are using similar solvents. To get better scratch resistance you need a stronger solvent to etch into the surface of your material. With stronger solvents comes the risk of them damaging your ink delivery...
