  1. Dave Drane...

To all Letterheads & friends, I've just received a message from Liddy Drane. She says: Hi - there is no gentle way of telling you this but Dave came off his Harley last night and unfortunately didn't survive. Our family and friends here in Oz have been wonderful but like me are trying to get...
  2. some advice please----

Well done identifying & solving it!
  3. Thoughts. Ideas. Critique.

You need to learn to think like a customer, not like a new sign shop owner... Let that guide your choice of name.
  4. Thoughts. Ideas. Critique.

    As above/ditto!
  5. Stencil Material question

PVC foam sheeting, 2 to 3 mm thick. CNC router-cut with a bevel or conic/pointed cutter.
  6. PNC-1000 SERVICE manual here

    *Sent*. Good luck.
  7. Small v-carved sign

    Nice sign!
  8. Enroute Training???

In my opinion, the version 3 training cd was useful.More helpful than the manual, in a sense! The Enroute forums were equally useful, and the 'help' videos attached or prepared for those questions.
  9. A week ago yesterday........

    Congratulations Latigo!
  10. New plotter. Need some input

I'll second that motion...it's a shame the 'good old' serial ports and Lpts are getting scarce!
  11. PNC-1000 SERVICE manual here

Sounds like the switch/sensor at the left end might be kaput? Try moving the pinch wheel at that end, to the right by say 1/8", and see if that helps to 'wake it up'. Other than that, it may be a loose wire, somehow, under the cover. Or it may be the end of the machine's useful life...
  12. Ian Stewart-Koster

Hi Vinylmaster, you asked me to send you the manual to the Roland PNC1000/1000A. I'm happy to...

Hi Vinylmaster, you asked me to send you the manual to the Roland PNC1000/1000A. I'm happy to do that, but I have two difficulties. 1. No email address to send it to 2. No 'real name' to send it to. I may be old fashioned, but I like to know the name of those whom I offer to help...
  13. PNC-1000 SERVICE manual here

I can't send them to you without an email address, Folks...!
  14. Nice Tools for Cutting Coroplast

The corro claws are good - but I bought the Biddi knife & it went blunt in no time-with not much use. Can't figure out how to change the blade though...
  15. Bought a plotter, software, and vinyl. Wondering where to start?

Well, last time I thought about it, the answer was "Signs do!" What type of signs? Whatever the client asks for or needs-longevity & budget permitting-otherwise we might use something other than cut vinyl, like paint, with a brush, or an airbrush... Junk cheapy signs from calendered vinyl...
  16. Illustrator Vinyl Cutting

Is your problem getting the plotter to cut from Illy, or in getting Illy to let you put an offset/countur/outline (call it what you will) out from the letters, or both?
  17. Ripoff?

No, it is NOT! This bloke is happy to pay for 144 to be printed, at the 144 price break. He just has only 126 substrates for it to go onto, instead of 144 of them. The original poster is happy to pay for 144 prints, though he has a shortfall of substrates. The real problem is simply that...
  18. Save your scrap

Some good comments & some funny comments-some sarcastic & some serious... as someone said it all depends on your turnover & how close the supplier is to your location. I've saved stuff & I've thrown out stuff. Sizeable scraps of common colours become backing cover strips for screen edges. Queer...
  19. Thoughts on SELLING OUT!

It sounds really good, the way you describe it. I hope it works out well for you. I have two distant good friends who were bought out (or into) like that, then promptly sacked around 2-8 months into the deal. One was 4 years ago, and one 2 years ago. It turned out that was the new owner's...
  20. Ripoff?

I think the unmentioned issue here is he'll have to go out & buy 18 more shirts & deliver them-to get the better price...what do the shirts cost each? I wonder if the seller was perhaps NOT a merchant here, would most people have a different attitude toward them in asking for a bit of...
