  1. Company Name / Re-Upstart Help

I reckon Jill's idea of Appil is brilliant! "Appil Signs & GraphiX" ;) "Appil Designs" "An Appil a Day..."
  2. Avery Vinyl

It is a fascinating subject, this Avery issue. Down here nearer to the South Pole, I've been using Avery stuff for 11 years, and have not had a failure yet. I also like 3M, but very few suppliers I can access carry it anymore, I've found. On the other hand, I've nicknamed most of the...
  3. My cutter hates the letter "L"

Lowercase Ls aren't too hard-just cut a looong thin strip, and then place one end of it in the right place & cut the bottom end off, place that, and cut, place that, and cut, etc etc. It's when they play up doing Rs, Bs or 8s that it's a pain!
  4. A Beautiful Death

Thanks you for that Dave. Well done. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but he does work! ((sorry, but Arlo seems a less appropriate name to me than Dave, at the moment))
  5. More new "competition"!

    Where's the "Like" button! ;)
  6. Taking my show on the road....sweet!

    Neat idea, James!
  7. Tedious Quote Help

Well, your title says 'tedious quote help', but your first post does not seem to ask a question. Anyway, I gave you my opinion and help as requested, first up, then so did several others, summarised as you are not charging enough money for the job. You could double it or do whatever you wish...
  8. help with font and redrawing advice

Thanks, Fred, I must have misunderstood or missed a change in one of the rules over the last year or so... However, as you say, he has been given the answers he needs. More than once. There's a saying that goes, 'you can't help those who won;'t help themselves'. Sounds to me like this is one of...
  9. Can you trace this? Seriously

Actually, I thought the white thing in the middle was a skull, rotated 2/3 of a circle anti-clockwise...it still looks like it if you squint a bit!
  10. Tedious Quote Help

If you are using up 50 yards of vinyl to do it all, I feel your price is waay too cheap. Maybe I'm lucky, but I get $110 per lineal metre, for plotted, weeded & app-taped cast vinyl letters on a supply only basis. I do a fair bit for local machinery dealers from time to time. Admittedly I've...
  11. help with font and redrawing advice

Fred, I sort-of thought this type of question & new member was not allowed here; unless it is put up as a joke. His questions suggest anything but 'professional' in a business sense. The only thing not said is someone suggesting he do it in M$ Word... I'm not against helping someone, nor trying...

HI Doug, just a quick note to let you know I posted a pic & some basic routing steps/instructions that may interest you, in the Portfolio section of Letterville last week. It's about a carpenter's tool chest I made, plus cnc routed attachments including a home-designed clamshell handle. Best...
  13. tapered Ballnose supplier in Canada

Well done Doug-I like the 808- what kind of finish did you use on it?
  14. What CNC Router should I buy

Well, what about feedback then-did he get a router-what decisions did he arrive at? Enquiring minds like to know the end of the story-it's only polite! ;)
  15. tapered Ballnose supplier in Canada

Doug, I found some tapered ballnose cutters quite a bit cheaper than those good Onsrud ones (which I've stupidly broken three of at $110 each downunder...) Look up carvewright taper cutters on Evilbay...they have a 1/4" shank, tapering to 1/16" ballnose cutters for around $40. They're not as...
  16. What CNC Router should I buy

    Oops, double post-sorry!
  17. Flooded in.

We're fine too-stuck in & without power for a while, super muddy, but OK. In 13 days we had more rain than all of 2006 & 2007's figures added up. It was really tragic what happened in Toowoomba & over in Lockyer Valley though-so phenominally sudden & huge. Even our closest town, Oakey, had 120...

Hi from further south in Qld... Did your Mimaki come good with the cleaning solution waste? Did you evermix up your own batch of flushing stuff? I'm only asking as I'm looking at buying a 2nd hand Mimaki JV-3 soon. Best wishes, Ian
  19. Shearing Vinyl and metal together, Good or Bad

From one Aussie to another: No! Colourbond signwhite is steel with a heat-set coat of paint, made by BHPsteel-roughly 0.6mm thick, heavyish & floppy. You need metalworking tools to work with it. Dibond is available from Alcan till they were bought out by I cannot remember who. It's a thin...
  20. What CNC Router should I buy

He is from Greece...I wonder if there might be an Italian or greek manufacturer he could go to? At least it'd be close to home, from a support point-of-view. The router is just one aspect with lots of options & variations. The software is anotherwith lots of options & variations. Cutters &...
