Tuck everything you can and heat it to establish a clean line again after the channel and if you have to stretch into a channel do it in a way that you are "pushing" the vinyl into the channel giving it as much material as possible. Prime the channels with primer 94 and if still getting issues...
Any high tack vinyl is great, squeegee it on and peel it up. Like a bikini wax for your printer. After that if the ink is really built up we wrap the whole belt completely in a large sheet of plastic and while we apply the plastic we spray denatured alcohol onto the belt, generously. We tape the...
Wow that looks exceptional...so what RIP/settings are you using to do that? Since I last posted on this thread I've been able to use the FB550 to prove concept, but it required loading the sign 11 times and printing it over/over to achieve the braille to proper spec. The key was to only measure...
Yeah our CNC has an ADA kit/attachment but it's a lot of set up and take down and is also slow and lots of labor. Just looking into printed options and seeing what's viable, thanks!
Those were the kinds of answers I'm looking for...so if I'm understanding correctly any UV printer that is designed for Braille (like any of the smaller desktop type units from any given brand) achieve the braille by printing/curing layer after layer to build it up dimensionally? So if the FB550...
Thanks Canuck, yeah I saw the Roland desktops in action and was not impressed. Really not impressed by Roland in general. Good starter machines though!
Wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks on printing braille with a Scitex FB550. Not sure if anyone is doing it and if it's reasonable on that printer. We are considering buying a 3d printer or desktop UV dedicated to braille but we already have the FB550 and wondering if maybe that's an option...
There's other better laminators out there than GFP, but they also cost significantly more. And being a laminator you don't really need any bells and whistles, end product is the same from laminator to laminator, making GFP is really wise purchase for the money.
Bad ink, HP been having problems with black and magenta scitex inks. Could be something else, but first thing to check is call HP and provide lot number, info, etc and they will have you do a few tests before sending you a replacement cartridge.
Odd, our Mimaki plotter doesn't require hitting enter 3 times...with ours we just set it to the first mark and put it on remote. Then when the cut file is sent from Onyx OR Finecut it just automatically reads all 4 marks and cuts the job. Either way informative, thanks Uncle Bun!
Thanks for the update Dennis, yeah HP has had bad ink issues a lot lately. Definitely a shame, they take care of it, but a lot of lost time and stress that you never get back. Glad you got it figured out, cheers :-)
With the finecut plugin one would have to load the plotter, align the laser to the first registration mark, hit enter and hit remote. Then go to the finecut plugin and send it to cut, after which it would read the 4 marks and cut the job. It's a similar situation with the Onyx workflow I...
Follow up...turn out that unchecking "manual alignment" in the ONYX cut server (under configuration settings for plotter) allows the Mimaki plotter to automatically read the registration marks. Problem Solved!!!!
Another thing I've seen is the filter that comes attached to the new box of ink is clogged before ever being installed/used. Disconnect the ink box and on the filter connected to the end of the line on the ink box has a little white "nipple". That nipple can be pressed in, allowing the ink to...
Setting up a Mimaki plotter to print/cut through Onyx Thrive (printed on HP latex, cut on Mimaki plotter, all through ONYX thrive). I've done this many times with Summa and other printers/cutters...but for some reason I can't get it to work with the Mimaki CG160FXII. Onyx will generate the...
We do option 3 or 4, and sometimes we weed the excess while other times we do not. Sometimes we will not weed them and print a "business card" or other advertisement onto the excess area to make it look finished/professional plus get a little marketing value. While we have other scenarios that...
Love it! I've been taping a foam swab in a similar fashion for the same results/problem....now I'm going to clamp on the swab heck with taping haha, thanks!
So I searched around the Summa forums and I know I saw this somewhere but can't find it now. So I apologize now if this has already been covered. I have a Summa ST160 and looking for the setting to allow it to cut beyond the outermost pinch rollers. I have a job where the registration marks are...
