Mimaki vs Roland
The printers you mention both use Epson print heads and very similar inks. There is nothing that one can do that the other can't as far as output. The Mimaki printers all come with the take up where Roland may make that an upgrade. Shop around and find the best value.

Bordeaux
If you decide to try Bordeaux inks, we have them at www.solventinkjet.com for $69.95 for a 440ml. Stick to a name brand ink that is supported by a company located in the USA. Try aftermarket inks in cartridge form that require no system flushing. While refill cartridges may sound...
maybe
This has come up before with our customers and there are some things to be watch for. That printer has sub tanks that are foil pouches. These may be hard to flush completely out due to the fact they never fill completely up before allowing fluid to leave the pouch. The other thing is...
heaters
Home depot has some heat tape that we have used in the past. it only gets up to around 104 deg but it is easy to install and requires no controller
Flush that head
Those heads are worth trying to save. Google Epson head cleaner, all kinds of ideas on what to use as a flush. We were told to use distilled water if nothing else was available. The main board can be used as a trade in for a Mutoh printer.
Cap top
Cx the cap top, sounds like it is not draining and the black is crossing over to the magenta side in the cap. That set up has two colors per head. If the head is failing the inks could be mixing in the head. This is rare but if you push fluid into a print head with a syringe, you can...
Used printers
Depends on the models. The Mimaki JV3 will no longer be supported by Mimaki in September. The older Rolands (SC and XC series) can be expensive to keep up as they have so many print heads. Look for a versacamm, valuejet or a Mimaki JV33
Old Rolands
Having worked on an old Roland won't be much help with a newer unit. While Mimaki and Mutoh switched to the new Epson 8 channel print heads years ago, Roland has recently followed their lead. These new printers have a single eight channel print head that makes repairs and...
Fan belt
The early units Roland used to sell you with your tech parts inventory were fan belt tension gauges. They were made by Gates Rubber Company here in Denver. I recall seeing them for under 10 bucks
