it is being laminated a few hours later, seems either the SAV or the backing sheet is distorting when being printed, but it looks flat off the roll.

Have just installed a 60" L25500 & as soon as we go to laminate any SAV it fails, seems the vinyl does not like the heat (or possibly the backing sheet). We have tried MD5, Mactac & Avery vinyls & they all do the same... we get wrinkles after a foot of laminating, I did a 12' print on the Mimaki...

Yep & with the printing we are doing its not necessary, we have been able to do a great variety of Stickers, banners, posters, vector & full colour high res prints + PMS matches all with no head rank input..... works for us anyway.

So why would I spend another $265 per head just for the head rank sticker when we can get good results without them, I suggest you do the sales pitch in another thread as this one is about saving money, thanks anyway.

We had a problem where the printer would stop mid print & the LCD screen would flash, turned out to be the firewire cable was faulty.

We buy all our parts including heads from China, Heads approx $550 US Pumps $35 US :thumb: I will look up the supplier when I can & post up the details. Oh & these seem to be OEM parts....we cant find any difference except no serial numbers on the end of the heads, not that this has been a problem.

After snapping off the ink port on the black / magenta head we decided to do some emergency work to get the printer working again, now in the past its call the tech to come out bend us over, but this time we thought with nothing to loose we would thrown in an old head that just had a few nozzles...

Using Meagink from Europe, Sericol down here distribute it, its a corn based eco solvent ink. we go through heaps & basically its a bit harder on heads but most non OEM inks will be. I am paying about $220 for 1 Ltr & the aussie dollar is pretty much on par with the USD at the moment for comparison.

Change to a new pump & the issue will dissapear. the pump forms a lock which stops the capping station from sucking ink through the heads. we run a bulk system & its scary whan you loose 1 ltr overnight :-0

Yeah thanks for that Rooster, but if that were the case surely it would not lock the Printer control panel?

We had a tech come in & create some ICC profiles for us to suit the Mimaki & Flexisign Pro, so yeah it is achievable to get good colour matches. One of the biggest mistakes that guys down here make is what to send RGB or CMYK files lol

I have done a search but cant find this, do you have a section dedicated to typeface discussion? + while I am here what font is used in the forum logo "signs 101" or was the word signs hand generated, its a fantastic script.
