HI Curtis- I agree- but as I got better at using the program, I didn't mind some of the gaps- some things are understood that you know them, at a certain level.
That's why a range of books is good. I have my favourites, but if introducing the program to a friend, I won't head for those but...
Photoshop Bible is GREAT at explaining all the whys & wherefores of all the extremities of the sliders in the assorted options you'll come across.
Photoshop Wow! is great to whet your appetite on what can be achieved, though for a beginner I felt some things were not explained clearly (in...
How much $ is it?
Can you tell how many hours it has printed for?
Parts will wear out & break down- you don't want to have this happen right after the 120th day.
It may be the best investment you ever made, or it may be one you regret- I'd be trying to find out its accurate history, also.
Thanks Brian. The specs say CMYK, with CMY as dye inks & K as pigment. They also mention something that resembles photo printing...it's hard to tell!
My main interest is to use it to produce screen-positives (in black, on some sort of clear film) , from which to expose photosensitive screens...

I don't know how different the 1050 is from the 1000, but I have a pdf manual of the PNC 1000/1000A on my website you can download. It's a 5 meg zipped file. Email me and I'll send you the link.(free)
Thanks, Fred- I knew as soon as I'd posted the pic, I'd go relooking & figure it out...someone has bad taste in distortions though- Lucida's not my favourite at the best of times, but with the bits flying away from the dot on the i & the top of the d in different directions, it looks even worse...
I tried 'what the font' and nothing remotely close was suggested- does anyone know what it might be, and where I could get it, ot just get that line vectorised, at all, please?
Thanks!
"an image..."
What format is the image? Is it a jpg, a photo, bmp, tiff, or is it a vector file (with outlines) like ai, eps or wmf?
Photos need to be vectorised- they won't plot while they are bitmap files consisting of pixels.
Good post, Dan!
Another thing, frequently overlooked, is that a lot of more experienced signies can't be bothered relpying with useful information to some of the most basic questions...they may have done so years ago...then copped disrespect etc...then they just decide not to bother. If...
