  1. Advice needed

I've been very pleased with my Graphtec vinyl cutter. Been using it for about 20 years.
  2. Year end bonuses?

Thanks for your reply Gino. A weeks wages sounds generous to me.
  3. Year end bonuses?

What's typical for employee year end or Christmas bonuses? We have a small shop and am wondering what other employers do at this time of year. Also, I'm creating an employee handbook and am on the "paid time off" section - any advice on that too? Thanks.
  4. Credit card keeps getting hacked

Hmmm...that's what I was wondering too. I use a couple of sign suppliers on a regular basis and was wondering if one of them was the culprit. Judging by the responses to this posting in this forum it doesn't appear that this is a widespread problem (yet) with other sign companies.
  5. Credit card keeps getting hacked

Since January I've had my credit cards shut down 3 times. I only use these cards for business purchases. Fortunately the bank is able to spot a questionable charge and does not process it so I am out no money. But then I have to wait 2 - 5 biz days for a new card and then the bookkeeping hassles...
  6. Need font for dimensional letters?

How close does it have to be to the font in the seal? The font is obviously in the Roman family but there are so many variations of Roman styles. Most people wouldn't object to a Times Bold. If the letters are only 2" I would order them from Gemini.
  7. Is it OK to apply ControlTac with a wet application?

I know this goes against common practices but I have to apply a 52" circle to polymetal and it has to be dead on correct. I don't have a lot of experience applying ControlTac and would be more comfortable with the RapidTac on hand just in case I'm messing up. My question is - is there any harm...
  8. Post & panel signs wholesale in Florida

I'm looking for suppliers of a post and panel type sign that is custom painted. Looking for someone near northeast Florida if possible. The double sided sign face is 4' x 6' with 2x6x8' posts. Any suggestions, thanks.
  9. CMYK to RGB in Corel

I tried that and it didn't make a difference. Thanks.
  10. CMYK to RGB in Corel

I have created a file in Corel that I want to send to Signs365 to print out. They only print in RGB. When I export the file the dark blue colors change to a dull blue/gray. I'm trying to get a rich navy blue color print. Every time I "export" in Corel the default setting is CMYK, which I have to...
  11. Help Pricing HDU sign

At $2700 I'm not sure if you've got enough money to cover the drop material, working with two pieces, what kind of backing or support is there for the installation. Also, how are you concealing the seam in the 13' section. I would charge more for those things - maybe more like $3500.
  12. Cool Signs in Montgomery, TX, doesn't pay their bills

Wonder what would happen if you send a bill to Bassett Furniture for the unpaid balance?? Threaten to remove the sign?? Just curious if you could stir up some grief and get a resolution. Maybe it's just me but I have a hard time letting that stuff go.
  13. Can anyone produce road signs?

Check out what the rules are for your county. If it is a private gated community they probably do not have to comply with the MUTCD rules. If it is a public access road the rules are different. Some signs have to be 7' grade to the bottom of the sign, some need breakaway poles, yada yada.
  14. SVG file extension

I received some files with an .svg file extension. I can click on them and they open but when I try to import into CorelDraw they get all distorted. I can save them or copy and paste but they turn into a bitmap file instead of a vector file. I need them in the vector format so I can resize and...
  15. Clear coating over gold leaf

I'm looking for a high quality brushable clear coat to brush over some V carved, gilded letters. I used to do a lot of hand painted boat names and used a two part clear that was popular with the boat painters but it was very expensive and had a short shelf life. I've also used One Shot and Frog...
  16. Etchmark Installation

Last time I did a job like that I had a lot of trouble. There were about 5 door, full coverage. Getting the right amount of application fluid was the challenge. If I used too little I got a lot of bubbles in the film. If I used too much I had a hard time getting the mask off without lifting the...
  17. Anybody know where to get these changeable letter signs?

United Visual Products - good company, good prices www.uvpinc.com
  18. Evacuation map

I received an email with a photo of an old schematic floor plan of an apartment building. They want to make this into an evacuation plan that can be posted on the walls. Is there an easy way to do this? I can't imagine the time involved in trying to redraw this. Thanks for your suggestions.
  19. You know you're in the sign business too long when...

you're waiting at the Deli counter and you're tempted to whip out a squeegee and get the bubbles out of the Boars Head decal.
