  1. applying see through vinyl on curved glass on vehicle

I don't have a lot of experience applying see through vinyl on vehicle windows. I was asked to apply it to the back of an SUV where the glass is curved. Does the curvature cause the material to wrinkle when applying? If so how do you deal with that? Also, do you seal the edges once it is applied...
  2. shiny gold vinyl for boat

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm getting a sample of RealGold sent to me.
  3. shiny gold vinyl for boat

My customer loves the shiny gold vinyl and wants to use it on his boat for part of the graphics. I told him it won't hold up. Is there some kind of specialty vinyl used in the marine industry that will hold up for at least 5 years? Buy by the yard too?
  4. Need Input

the only time I've seen successful use of varnish on raw wood was when I worked at a boat yard and they would spray about 12 coats of clear over the wood. Otherwise, the varnish splits after about a year and then moisture gets to the wood, eventually turning it gray.
  5. Newbie Sign Maker

I would say $100 to $150 per sq ft for all that 3D work involved. At 18 sq ft that's $1800 to $2700. Getting someone to pay that much is the question. Making a sign without an agreed upon cost is a dangerous thing considering someone may lose big time causing bad feelings.
  6. Signs365 Switched To 15oz Vinyl Banner, Signs Falling?

I have been buying the mid range priced retractable banner stand from Grimco. I like it because it is lightweight and has worked well in the past. It's only been within the past month that I noticed the new banners seem a bit unsteady. What brand of stand is the best? There are so many on the...
  7. Signs365 Switched To 15oz Vinyl Banner, Signs Falling?

I have been buying 13 oz vinyl banners from Signs365 and using them in the 33 x 78" Picasso retractable stands. I just got a call from my customer saying the stands are falling. I suspect it may be the heavier 15 oz vinyl - does that sound right? Is it the banner or the stand that is the...
  8. Electronic Message Signs

I have an opportunity to bid on a sign that will include a small scrolling electronic message. I have not done any digital signage before. I am looking for tips and advice on finding the best products/warranty/service in my area of North Florida. Thanks!
  9. Great New Product I Discovered Yesterday

We tried it a couple of times. Seems like it has a lot of potential. My question is whether the city will approve of it as a substitute for 2000 psi concrete on a larger installation. I believe the psi is 85 on the foam. Some of the monument signs require a lot of concrete in the foundation.
  10. New Guy Sign Estimating Software

We use Estimate for simple jobs. We have also developed our own Excel sheets for more complicated jobs that require multiple amounts of information such as materials, labor items including layout times, CNC times, painting, etc. I'm trying to get as accurate as possible on my quoting and Excel...
  11. Internet Browser

I've been using Internet Explorer forever. Lately whenever I upload a file to Signs365 it fails to upload. They are saying I need to switch browsers. Any opinions on which browser to use - will I lose all my cookies if I switch browsers?

Dale, thanks for your reply about the pop up banner. We haven't decided what we are going to do yet.

  14. Oz Post Anchors

Anyone using the Oz post anchors to install signs on 4x4 posts? They look like they may save digging time as long as you don't cut through a utility line in the process.
  15. Review For Pop Up Banner

Has anyone tried out the Signs365 banner stand? The price looks very reasonable for the banner plus the stand. Do they assemble the banner in the stand prior to shipping?
  16. Question Aluminum Finishes And Durability Concerns

We have a set of letters with Chemmetal brushed aluminum laminated to PVC that we installed in 2003. The letters are on a south facing wall, which is brutal exposure in the Florida sun. If you look closely you can see small pitted areas in the surface. Personally I would have replaced the...
  17. Need Help Vectorizing

I send all my stuff like that to the Vector Dr - he does fast work and very reasonable. I believe he is a merchant here.
  18. Wooden sandblasted sign 120″ x 60″ restoration pricing.

The last time we refurbished a 15 year old wooden sign like that it busted in several places due to unforeseen rot. I would recommend making a new sign. Before I got too far into the project I would check the sign code. In my area replacement signs have to comply with updated codes, regardless...

  20. Where would you open your next wrap shop?

[For signage [/B][/U]- Look for a town with a solid commercial center and a sign shop to population ratio of 1:25,000 or better. Where do you find this data?
