The original was done by screen printing, maybe you could go from there, any tshirt screen printer should be able to do the black layer for you for a resonable price, you can then fill the empty spaces with white/gold whatever.

Couldn't find a good banner script for illustrator that creates hole marks automatically according to banner size which was very frustrating, so I learned programming and wrote one myself :DSee if you like it, create a new artboard, drop the script on it, done.

As zoogee said captops need to seal perfectly in order to suck ink otherwise you can soak the head as much as you want. Change captop, soak for 10 min, do a fill up and should be good.

So first of all the vinyl doesn't touch the surface, the glue does. Not sure how this helps but could be a good starting point

Not gonna happen, the whole issue started when Epson decided to enter the solvent printer market thus increasing the price of the printheads. Roland was not happy about it and switched to ricoh heads for the entry level machines which fail to deliver the same quality and reliability.

Not on mimaki or Epson. But my canon deskjet printer won't print without yellow ink :D

Had a truvis, was a nightmare, fortunately I could cancel the purchase and they took it away after 2 weeks. Then got a mimaki, which was fine. Later I worked on an epson and boy! that's what I call a printer.

For this kind of jobs (old camper vans) we always think of a price, double it and tell the client. They say we are crazy and leave just to return 2 weeks later happily waving their credit card after trying to remove it themselves.

I do something similar when there is a "rush" job that need to leave the shop by the end of the day, stays longer on the heater element. FYI Metamark is a UK brand, one of the shittiest quality materials with frequent defects both in print and cut vinyl.

Orange doesn't add too much to the equasion, but they had to add something to the 8th slot :D . Light magenta and light cyan makes a huge difference, especially on gray gradients (again, it's not the light black ink). The cjv150-130 is a good machine, you can do extremely high quality prints...

Looks like your S80600 has a dual cmyk setup and the printheads are not aligned. Nothing wrong with your printer it just needs calibration

It drives me crazy, a few years back I could set my own symbol library so when creating a new page I'd have my symbols instead of the illustrator default ones. Any idea how I did that :D?
