We have a DC4sx and it has a place in our workflow. Depending on your expectations you could be disappointed but if you use it for its strengths then I think its a good printer. There is a Summa specific forum on the web if you search that has a lot of great info on the printer.

I understand reasoning behind the hood and all, but without messing with PrinterControl it was a pain to check on a job as it was printing. Adding some lights that you can turn on as needed would be a big plus. Before I fixed the hood sensor I would be peeking in with a flashlight.

Has anyone heard anything about the flatbeds?? Availability? Price? We have been looking at a flatbed half heartedly ever since we got our JV3. It'ld be a nice addition and look great next to our S140T and DC4sx. Maybe Summa should offer a loyalty discount when they starting selling it.

Figuring a price on printing it in house, just figured that outsourcing would save me some headaches.

I recommend a thermal as well, the Edge and DC4sx are the two options. With those two machines it a question of whether or not you want a lot of options on spot colors(Edge), or being able to produce prints 30" wide(DC4sx) and contour cut in one machine. We have a Summa that is being delivered...

We are Summa users here, workhorse machines. When we replaced our original unit I just bought their newest version in the size we wanted without checking the competition. That is how satisfied I am with them. Just a thought, if you buy a nicer unit up front, then it should last you longer...
