I agree with VanderJ if the accuracy of Roland plotters has improved. Dig deep into the spec sheet to make sure.
Roland + Summa works great. I did that for a year using the supplied Summa software. Graphtec is another option.
I have a 1624x. When the SR came out I called the dealer and asked about upgrading. Dealer told me there wasn't enough of a difference to warrant a switch. That being said there may be some deals on the 1624x. Been quite happy with mine.
Just because the material is fresh out of the box doesn't mean it's good to go. Have had to return multiple rolls of contaminated materials from all different manufacturers.
Get a trial of On1 or Gigapixel. While Adobe stuff has gotten better it's no match for dedicated programs.
I've been using On1 for years. If you have a solid image to start with 1000% bigger is very doable.
Thanks for the information. It may come in handy with the type of work I do. Going to run with an automotive type finish system since that's in my wheelhouse.
Thank you for the information and client wants it perfectly smooth. Sounds like I'm headed in the right direction anyway.

How's that go? Oh yeah; Say it forget it, write it regret it.
Need to learn weld/fab as well. Shops that deal with pole mounts will have a certified welder on staff.
Can't forget the insurance either. Not so bad attaching stuff to buildings but once you start putting holes in the ground...yeesh.
Old time sign guy said once you put up a sign you own it...
Industrial applications with constant forklift traffic: Sandblast mask, blast floor about 0.070" deep, fill with epoxy. Or you can grind the floor, put down a paint mask and use epoxy. If you can get by with black graphics use coal tar epoxy. You remove that stuff with a chisel. Any of the...
No big deal if Roland no longer supports the machine. Once my rig was out of warranty I became the tech. Solvent printers are a mature technology and there are enough aftermarket parts out there to replace whatever needs replacing.
Last year I sold my SP540V to a guy that was stoked to get...
