If there isn't a steel supplier in your area look for the nearest welding shop. I used a local weld shop for years until SI Metals set up shop near me. Best part about a weld shop is usually for not much more than the price of the steel they will cut and weld what you need.

When is the last time you cleaned the encoder strip? I owned the same printer and a dirty encoder strip would cause the "fuzzies" like you're seeing. Go for the easy stuff first. ;)

This^^^ Also, if you don't already have one buy a big dehumidifier. You can rent industrial units too.

No head scratching required. In my experience removing a complete line of screws creates more problems like "oil canning". Once those screws are removed the panel is able to move as you try to squeegee the material. Especially on the cargo trailers that have been overloaded their whole life...

Cast. Is the trailer riveted or screwed? Cargo trailers usually use screws which I remove if it isn't a wrap.

I spray with automotive clear. In fact I'm spraying one today. No complaints to date. YMMV.

When your printer breaks down fix it. Old Rolands are good machines with great aftermarket support for anything you would need.

Get another printer. HP stopped supporting it. No more ink, heads, etc...
