  1. Small Text and Summa Cutter

I agree with Johnny Best and Tammie H. Also like to add for small text we use 3M Electrocut with the poly backing. Costs more but haven't found anything better. We have a Summa D610 and D140.
  2. Review Mimaki UCJV300-160 vs Mutoh 1682SR

I have experience with latex. Had an older one in the lab at school. Ran well but had an electrical issue that was too costly to repair according to our tech. Lab also has solvent, UV and aqueous roll to roll and UV flatbed. Roland, Mimaki, Epson, HP and now Mutoh I run them all, even an HP...
  3. Review Mimaki UCJV300-160 vs Mutoh 1682SR

Stop with the scare tactics. I own a Mutoh and it gets cleaned a few times a month. Flawless prints every time. Solid colors look like cut vinyl. Crisp text at 6pt.
  4. Removing screen printed ink from backlit face

New faces will prevent you from getting an ulcer and laying awake at night.
  5. Need Help Concrete Floor Graphics

Alumigraphics is another option. Not cheap though.
  6. List - Magnets that don’t stick

Most if not all class 8 trucks.
  7. New Shop (flooring)

Stain then seal the concrete. You can get some good looking finishes by staining. Industrial epoxy with colored flakes looks good too. Or you could install wood grain vinyl plank flooring. The more expensive ones look incredible and it's fairly thing. Would be a lot warmer look.
  8. F1612 cutting issue

Not sure if this will be any help at all but... Mimaki flatbed in the lab likes a "clean" cut file. Once the job is printed we delete the artwork then send the "clean" cut file. If we don't it will monkey up the cut. Print also needs to be loaded in the same orientation it was printed or it...
  9. Completely washed out backlit panels

Unclebun is on point. Start with white translucent faces.
  10. Print/Cut solutions Mutoh Mimaki or Roland

Very happy with my Mutoh 1624X. Solid colors look like cut vinyl. Dries fast too. Cutting is handled by a Summa D140. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you have a Mutoh or Mimaki dealer close to your shop buy from them even if it costs more. Bought my Mutoh from a dealer about...
  11. Contour cuts off , over 30 inches goes in the trash...

No such thing as a heater plotter. In fact you're the only one claiming it's necessary. Good luck, I'm out.
  12. Question How to price this job

I'd be near double that for the perf. You have 80 square feet, plus yield and ink, babysitting the printer etc... Then you need to trim out, roll up, label and box for the trip. Install at $75 per window. Windows need to be cleaned then cleaned again. Pulling interior seals for a perfect...
  13. How to put a value on a business?

My business is worth what someone would pay for my used equipment. I'm it. If I'm really in a bind my wife will help. For big installs my good friend and wrap genius is hired for the day. James Burke is on point. You built the business. Your clients want you and your skill set not the...
  14. Contour cuts off , over 30 inches goes in the trash...

Been there done that with my SP540V. Ruining 30" of material was child's play compared to the prints mine ate. I worked on it diligently, replacing rollers, cleaning grit rolls, adjusting nip tension, alignment, shimming etc... Hours turned into days of tweaking and experimenting. Got better...
  15. Need Help Head Replacement kit for Mutoh

Get in touch with VanderJ on this forum. He will get you hooked up. You might pay a few bucks more but that buys you tech support for the install which is priceless.;)
  16. Optically Clear Laminate for Window Perf?

Lately I've been using 8887 Cut-In Clear in a spray can. It's a NAPA/Martin Senour product. Before that it was Sherwin-Williams Kut-In Klear. After the ink dries I thumbtack the print to a wall and spray two light coats. Just enough so you can see a wet shine. I apply next day. Never had...
  17. Question Digitrim / Import Fotoba Experience?

No clue if they're any good. Service, tech support and software compatibility are what I would worry about.
  18. Freaking Stupid Dell botches the new XPS 17

My two cents, not that anyone wants to hear it. Regarding the MacBook Pro I agree with KCollins. There is another PC that I've seen in action and I like. It's the Surface Pro. While most students run MacBook Pro's some run the Surface Pro. I have students on both platforms that are so good...
  19. Discussion What's the most common design mistake you see made in sign design?

Most common design mistake? That's easy. Letting me work on it.:D
  20. What should I have done question

Like Johnny Best I make my own sammiches. If I'm going to be gone all day installing I pack my lunch pail just like when I used to punch a clock.
