Use a thinner blade profile. Utility knife blades make a wider cut in the mat that doesn't "heal" as well. That's been my experience over the years YMMV.

This^^^ Old tech and there's probably more clogged stuff than just the heads. Cap tops, dampers, lines...you'd have to check the complete ink train right back to the cartridges.

Strip is cheap and easy to replace. If you've never changed yours you can flip it over. It rides so deep in the track that only the top half is exposed. If you want to replace I bought a generic strip for less than $10. IIRC you need one that is 180LPI. Helps to have a second set of hands...
