Better Reds Funny thing is that Epson has a new ink set that they say hits better reds, they make a big deal about it with the Sure Color. So if the new Roland has Epson heads it may have the new Epson inks which are said by Epson to hit better reds. So I do think the Roland will hit better...

New Mimaki Only thing I have heard about is a Solvent UV using the new Ricoh print heads. I can't find out much info about the benefits of a solvent based UV ink. Mimaki is dealing right now as it is year end for them

Value As stated above they both use Epson print heads so the image quality is similar. I think the Mimaki is a better value as it comes with inks (up to 2k worth) and they all come with a reversing take up that allows for print and cut where on some Roland's the take up is a 2k extra.

Fastest? Sounds like the Epson SureColor SC50670, two TFP ten channel print heads, speeds up to 900+ per hour. Can't see Roland making such a big deal about another me too setup. I would guess it is a print cut with the dual heads or maybe they are leaving the Epson world and using new print...

Fibers If the fibers are synthetic as most are, a heat gun set on high is a safe way to melt them down

Ink lines Check to see if you are getting air in the lines leading up to the print head, if you do have air in the lines a small charge will suck them out, but if you have say leaky dampers, the air will come back.

Chips The dealer you buy your inks from should be able to get you replacement chips so you don't waste the inks. Take a flash light and look at the reader that is in the back cartridge bay, compare the one giving you trouble with a good one, I think something has gotten knocked out of place.
