  1. Flatbed Printers - Vanguard Print Settings & 2nd Printer Purchase

One thing manufactures wont mention is on true flatbed is changeover time for boards. Id look at the oce arizona series with an XT bed as it has dual zones, no change over time as you can swap each zone while the other is printing. for speed and true flatbed, oce arizona 6100 series. it's a...

  3. Question Multiple Color profiles one software

This makes no sense at all. you need some sort of RIP to print with. if you're printing with photoshop, you have to choose the correct media etc which selects the right profile from the print menu which is in itself a RIP.
  4. Need Help Onyx Profiling, how to change head speed / scan speed?

5p,6p,8p are passes. less passes the faster it goes.
  5. HP R1000 Glass Printing

I would not blame the glass for this issue. it's an adhesion issue. guaranteed. The white ink is literally penetrating though the CMYK ink. We print on glass more than most people do, and we've seen this issue before.

  7. Question in-RIP spot color matching improvement vs GM Colorpicker/Colorlogic Colorant

Ahh, so i wouldn't call onyx swatchbooks an "iterating" method. as it doesn't update the profile. BUT - Onyx since x18 has an iterating step after creating an ICC profile to gain further accuracy. I'll need to set some time to have a look at colorant colour editor, i've had a look at most of...
  8. Question in-RIP spot color matching improvement vs GM Colorpicker/Colorlogic Colorant

okay i'm not to familiar with that RIP and the profile quality. There's a lot of different way as you've pointed out. I personally use onyx's swatchbooks. print off a patch set, measure and find the closest match and save it. and it's always there. I have colorant, but never put all the...

  11. Colorado 1650 UVGel inks

Generally speaking, if you purchase from the printer supplier, there shouldn't be any issues as they should have bulk supply. And i don't know how often you buy inks, but with a machine like a Colorado where you can go though 20L of ink in a month, you should be buying in bulk and in advance.

  14. Making Your Own ICC Profile

Every print shop should have colour management tools. But unfortunately a lot dont. This usually shows the difference between a print shop who cares about their quality vs one that prints and sells with not as much QC. Is it worth the investment in an i1pro? yes. get the i1pro3 publish pack...

  16. Question in-RIP spot color matching improvement vs GM Colorpicker/Colorlogic Colorant

Okay i see what you're trying to do. Do you have colorant? if so, try and see if it works for you? i haven't really played with that feature so i can't really give info on it. But the way i do this is i build the best profile i can. i'll use onyx swatchbooks to hit spot colours more closely...
  17. Question in-RIP spot color matching improvement vs GM Colorpicker/Colorlogic Colorant

What are you trying to achieve? colorant does not iterate a profile. It corrects measurement data and modifies measurement data if you’re changing your ink colours in your press. For example if you change out cyan for reflex blue. You just tell it to replace cyan with the LAB value of reflex...
  18. Suggestions Not sure how to handle this.................. ??

Seriously, no one local that can fix it? I’d be telling him to get back down and resolve the issue. You’ll have to pay, but it is what it is this is why when people want printer recommendations, I always recommend a company with local support rather than the “best printer”
  19. Color management class

Do yo need skills to use an x-rite i1 pro? no, not really. These days, most profiling software has a basic "Print - Read - Next" Method and it'll give you a half decent profile. i1 Profiler software has a "Basic" & "Advance" mode too. It also has tips and help indicator explaining what...
