  1. Major news on the homefront

I have not heard any news on Al yet but I do know that Jess came out OK.
  2. Not liking the new site design.

Thanks anthonyg! That was my one bug. Other than the other day when I reported a post for offsite pix and I think everyone saw it...oops!
  3. Tuff customer

Why in God's name would you have issued her a refund? She was being unrealistic, sounds like she made you feel guilty for her many mistakes and bad design choices. I wouldn't give a rat's *** what she says to anyone about me, anyone who knows her probably also realizes what a vapid twat she is...
  4. Well it had to happen didn't it

My knee-jerk reaction to this customer would have also been to feel insulted. But it's just part of having a business, I would have politely told him that I could not do the sign for that price, that I am not WalMart, everything I do is completely custom, and to have a nice day. What I am...
  5. Looking for Paint suggestions

I use Ronan Bulletin enamel as a background paint. More and more, I buy aluminum composite in the color of choice and use that. If the color is not available, I use factory-finished MDO, scuff sand it, and paint with the aforementioned Ronan. I seal the hell out of the edges with TiteBond 2 wood...
  6. If I have one more customer that uses the word "pop"...

Nobody around here ever says that. I get the "fancier font" thing a lot, meaning they want Papyrus. I've become kind of a psychic, I can tell which types of customers will want which type of sign. 99% of the time, when dealing with a woman, if I use the word "organic" it makes her go for the...
  7. Font ID please

At worst, you could just add some spurs to Playbill. Love....Jill
  8. Copyright Quandary

I'm with both Joe and Gino. To me, something seems fishy here, hopefully it's not. Reproduce it after they sign a waiver, or just design something new. Love....Jill
  9. Happy 10 Year Anniversary Signs101!

  10. Air release question

Yup definitely do it dry. It's pretty much idiot-proof, even I can use it really easily. Tape it into place, measure it, measure it again, and stick it. (I usually use the center hinge method) As far as I know it is not repositionable. Love....Jill
  11. need to rant..

Yeah, at bare minimum, at least have the decency to convert to curves! I hate when you get something that's a ton of layers with unwelded shapes. Love....Jill
  12. Not liking the new site design.

It's different but it's not that bad. Like someone said about having the pages at the bottom of the page would be an improvement. Thanks for all you do, Fred. Love....Jill
  13. Any thoughts?

I like the top one a lot, just modify the a and r in Cares. Yeah, and what was said about community. Love....Jill
  14. Not quite "feeling" it...

Vid's is really nice. I was thinking about the Letterville logo (which I've always loved) you could do silhouettes of various treats as buildings.
  15. Not quite "feeling" it...

The top right, put PREMIUM FROZEN TREATS all in one line under Chillville. It doesn't have to be so literal, try it with just that text and no poo cottage. Not in love with the color scheme at all. Love....Jill
  16. I CAN'T see "clearly" now

That looks like it might benefit from some sort of clear. 1-Shot makes an acrylic UV clear (white can with green and black lettering) you have to work quickly with it because it gets stringy. You can get it from Pioneer or Glantz.
  17. Problem Customers- What would you do?

I would do as the first two replies suggest (if you really want to deal with him again) but above all, trust your gut. Sometimes a bad client can turn out OK but usually they never change, and are not worth the aggravation. My last client like this, I was simply too busy to take on their project...
  18. That's how it was done in England

There are still a few excellent signwriters in England. One of my FB pals has painted 6 fascias this week. Love....Jill
  19. "The Customer is Always Right"

...and 99% of this type of client are female. I can usually intimidate the men into my way of thinking. :)
  20. Pugs make terrible guard dogs

Reminds me of my old pug Weezer, who was the fiercest pug who ever lived. She was an excellent guard dog, and once bit a German Shepard right in the face! Love....Jill
