  1. Short rant...

I don't see how customers figure that I can deduct X amount from a quote. I figure stuff out carefully so that the client gets a good job, and that I get paid my hourly rate. The quote they get is the best price I can give them without jeopardizing the quality of the sign or my integrity as a...
  2. Hdu sign help!!!

...somehow, this offends me even more than your race car comment. You are way out of your element, bidding on "fixing" a shabby sign that needs replaced, not knowing what type of paint to use, not knowing how to order Gemini letters, and not even knowing what a brush is. This is exactly what's...
  3. Installing Vinyl Glass storefront...

I usually just draw a line on top of the masking paper with a yardstick and a pencil. If you're worried that you don't know where the bottoms are on a curly or crazy letter, just leave the weed border on the vinyl and use that as a straight edge. Love....Jill
  4. Hdu sign help!!!

There is never a need to tape off letters like that, all you need is a good fitch.
  5. Need logo help, please

I could see it with this font, not the stars and stripes version but the plain one.
  6. Need logo help, please

I like the first one with a different font...Serpentine is so overused. Love....Jill
  7. Sign Paint?

I like Ronan's Speednamel, but it may not come in those poopy looking colors. :) Maybe just regular old Rustoleum enamel. Love....Jill
  8. Hours Sign

He runs a lawn care business by day. He's also a kustom painter and pinstriper. :)
  9. Sliding rear windows

That will work fine. I would trim the decals and not put them over the trim, because that will fail. Looks a lot better than the first idea for sure.
  10. Hdu sign help!!!

I think smashing into it with a race car would eradicate all of the silicone and most of the other letters.
  11. Hours Sign

I'll take a pic of the salon one installed later this week. I didn't want to put the street address on it but the client insisted. I just use the regular 1-Shot super gloss clear (I have an older can that I guard with my life, given to me by Joe Chips) Really been enjoying my work, I forgot how...
  12. Hours Sign

Thanks. After about 12 years of gilding, the variegated is the only "idiot proof" kind I've found. It's very forgiving.
  13. Hours Sign

Here's one I did today for my pal who is moving his tattoo shop to Mars. He supplied the painted wooden blank, I lettered it with Ronan lettering enamels and variegated gold leaf. Was going for an eroded look. I've been doing quite a bit of painted signs lately, it sure is fun. The other...
  14. Sliding rear windows

I would lay it out so that it was still somewhat cohesive when the window was open. I'd do it in etched glass, which I always like to see on a vehicle. Here's a quick suggestion. Love....Jill

Comment by 'Jillbeans' in media 'Ace High/Gingerbread sample'

    I use your gingerbread a lot...love it.
  16. Where can I get this Shape

It's a sign shape. There are a lot of these sign blank shapes available online as vector art. Or just draw a rectangle, overlap an oval, weld, then node edit. Love....Jill
  17. Prepping Clients Mentally - Avoiding problems

It's a tricky subject for sure. I have a lot of potential clients who I call "Doubting Thomases" They come to you because they've seen and liked your work. You do a briefing with them, get a feel of what they are looking for (usually I get a good idea within a few seconds) But then at the end...

  19. Graphics Vs Home & Student ?

I accidentally purchased the wrong version and was not able to cut vinyl with my plotter via Corel.

I disagree. Mastering Layout teaches you the bones. Dan's books teach you how to dress the bones.
